Sea of Stars is very good. 8/10

What I liked:
+ Fantastic looking pixel art, animation, lighting
+ Many locations with distinct atmosphere
+ Enemy and boss variety
+ Has some great moments including one or two spectacular events
+ Can swap party members out at any time even during combat
+ The music. The vast majority of kudos here goes to Eric W. Brown. Yasunori Mitsuda contributed some tracks
+ Nice combat style overall. No random encounters and combat isn't on a separate screen
+ Garl

Critiques:
- Slow start
- Writing - I will just say that it is often bland
- Too many puzzles for my liking
- Timing blocks (you're constantly taking on different kinds of enemies with differently timed attacks) & some skills/combos (exactly when does it want me to push the button???)
- Some silent dialogue scenes feel like they definitely should have music
- Why tank controls? If you've gotten there you know what I'm talking about

Thanks for reading.

I enjoyed this, playing on a Logitech flight stick. It's fun and I will definitely go back to this game when I get a lot of other ♥♥♥♥ done.

Great game & runs well! Mouse acceleration is jank so I got a mouse fix online and that mostly fixed it. I noticed a bunch of free stuff in the shop in game - So I found out DLC is included with this game with a bunch of weapons and rigs you get for free... I didn't want to play that way... There is a fix for this too online but I just ignored the free stuff (put it in my stash). But yeah overall really good! Creepy and tons of suspense, lots of gore. Graphics aren't bad at all considering this is a 2011 game. Weird physics, sometimes (in normal gravity) dead guys can just spin around on the ground and not stop and also other crazy stuff with objects/dead enemies happens. I'm almost done with the game and have had no crashes. V sync is off and no screen tearing, monitor is 144hz

Ok, so yah this game is a little jank in places. It's really all over the place. But from the jank, something truly amazing emerges. If it's not too late, go in blind.

8/10 - Highly recommended for those who are into this kind of atmosphere, suspense, and horror. It's a short adventure that brings breathtaking scenery and what seems like a frolic in the forest... until things change. Difficulty is Easy to Medium (there's not a setting, this is just my estimate based on battles and platforming. The puzzles are ridiculously easy). Overall really enjoyed this beautifully told tale & its amazing graphics. Screenshot worthy almost every moment.

I wish the game were longer. I would like to have had more fluid character animation, especially with mouse and keyboard as the character moves jerkily when changing directions or beginning to move. There was some clipping. Some of the sky domes and assets seemed somewhat low res, although, I played in 4k.

✔️ AMAZING STORY
✔️ AMAZING COMBAT
✔️ AMAZING MUSIC
✔️ AMAZING EVERYTHING

So I am playing this for the first time. I can't believe that for so many years I denied myself of this masterpiece.

Had a couple minor bugs. one where i was bumped into a wall and couldn't move, softlocking the game, and another softlock after a cutscene when my character was supposed to be able to move but couldn't and the menu wouldn't work. I was able to ALT+F4 and resume bookmarked game which put me very close (bookmark is an auto-save that updates often, independently of save points. You can only load it from the main menu by selecting 'Resume') And there are 1 or 2 times it wanted me to click something with the mouse, disabling my controller. Nothing big. It's been overwhelmingly problem-free. I heard this is basically a port of a port but they did a great job.

Unique and fun roguelike space shooter. I first happened upon Transcendence on a demo disc that came with a gaming magazine, a long long time ago. I played it too much and keep coming back to it every now and then.
