The Greek candle maker was a notorious criminal mastermind and hit man in the 70s. After being hunted in Europe, he fled to the states and adopted a new identity. He worked his way up the ranks of American criminal world and became a connoisseur of crime. His influence rippled throughout the American society like the trembling of a spider's web --- and he was at the center of it. He did deals for everyone, even the American Executive Branch. He would have lived a life of perpetual wealth and power had the Watergate scandal not happened --- which exposed many of his activities. Authorities failed to capture him, he had escaped. To this day it is not known if The Greek Candlemaker was one person or more. Or if he was just a myth that criminals used to frighten their kids: "Be good, or the candlemaker will get you."
