I'm going to reluctantly recommend this game because I think five dollars for ten hours of intriguing gameplay (which is not all there is, just as far as I got) is a pretty good deal. But the game is abandonware. It's not going anywhere from here. There are basically two different versions of it, as the beta branch is a pretty massive overhaul, so if you get bored with the main version there's technically more content to be had in trying the beta branch. But the game's very much unfinished -- regrettably so. I like the concepts and execution here a lot and I wish we had more games like it.

Considering how much I loved the first game, I'm sure this one would be great too, if it was playable on this platform with modern hardware. Unfortunately, it's not. I can't fathom how they made Fallen Order run like a dream and then somehow managed to produce this absolutely colossal cluster♥♥♥♥ of a port. Don't waste your money.

EDIT: Denuvo has been removed! Great start! Now maybe make it actually use the 12GB of VRAM I have, instead of using all 16GB of my normal RAM on the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ TITLE SCREEN, and maybe it'll actually become playable!

This might have had potential if not for the revelation that it's headed by an AI asset-using and promoting douche. I'm not interested in anything that a human being couldn't be bothered to make themselves.

I lament that Steam does not have a higher honor to give a game than a thumbs up. I slept on this game for a good while -- when I first got it, I played through the intro sequence and the first area and a half or so, and then I put it down. Didn't even make it to the first real dungeon. I enjoyed what I had played, but it hadn't really hooked me yet.

Some time passed. I picked the game back up and gave it another, real try. And I could not put it back down.

This game is phenomenal. Everything about it has stuck with me long after I finished it: the aesthetic, the combat, the music, the puzzles, the lore, but *especially* the story and the characters. It all hits the right notes for me. The *one* complaint that I can muster for the entire game is that the final dungeon added in the New Home DLC overstays its welcome pretty substantially if you try to do it all in one sitting -- but it's hard to really complain about *too much* content.

Please play this. For the value you get out of this game, it would be a steal at full price.

I discovered this game from a playthrough on my YouTube recommended, and promptly went and downloaded it myself because the person in the video was choosing all the joke answers and I was not satisfied with this.

Oh, little did I know.

This has no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ right to be a good game. By all accounts it shouldn't be. But it is. Play it.

Hades is definitively my favorite game in its genre. The gameplay is phenomenal, but what makes it truly unique among others of its kind is its story and characters. This game makes you care. Every run has narrative meaning, every time you get closer to escaping the Underworld feels significant. I've yet to actually do it myself, but by the gods I will.
