Let me preface: This is the only skate game I have played, and I despise EA. (I know they're just the publisher)

So far, the game is exactly what I expected. An open world skating game that requires (at least some amount of) precision in order to pull of tricks and hit lines. The other options for moving around (I.E. Rolling) is hilarious and surprisingly fun as well. I'm not thrilled with the cash shop but at this point it's just an expectation of f2p games. There's a decent amount of nice customization options you can get for completely free. Playing with friends is super fun, and placing trickable objects into the open world feels not only very intuitive but also is a great way to add spice/depth to the map.

This isn't all to say there aren't issues with this game, such as the physics sometimes bugging tf out, or the game randomly kicking you out of your session, especially if you alt-tab, at least in my experience. Also trying to load in on launch day to find servers down for maintenence and then having to wait in queue to get in was certainly frustrating, but once I got in I didn't have to wait in queue again. Whether that's because it remembered my account and saved my spot for X amout of minutes after disconnecting, or because the line had been cleared out and there wasn't a queue anymore I cannot say.

Overall I'd argue this game is certainly fun, even if people claim it's missing content from the old games. You can still do pretty much all the tricks you'd immediately think of with skating, alternative movement and emotes are also fun/interesting. You can still do funny bails. I'd argue it's a very solid title overall. 8/10

JFC this game is abysmal.

Between the blatant cheating, the turbosweats, and the fill-in bots that eat up slots in games, nothing about it is fun or interesting. Doubly so with how weak and useless most weapons are, it's almost like the (now) Korean devs haven't ever fired a gun, despite their mandatory military service.

There was a time when the game was fun, when it was good. But that time has very long since passed.

My initial experience, both of this game, and of Thor (Pirate Software) were very positive. It is obvious, so many years later, that this was made solely to capitalize on the popularity Undertale had. So much time to finish this and polish it, yet nothing ever came, the writing never improved. Thor's grasp on reality has entirely slipped away. His inability to admit fault or make any attempt to be better is embarrassing. His choice to shoo away and ban any dissenting thought or opinion to exist in his own narcissistic echo chamber is truly pathetic. It's more pathetic than the morons like myself who buy too much into all the drama ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (Not Stop Killing Games, just everything else!)

It's not "exactly" the same as the original trilogy, but overall it's quite faithful and fun. I wish they hadn't so drastically changed some of the monsters, and I wish the VA had more personality in this version, but being able to play these games in glorious high quality on top of high framerates (I'd lock it to 120, or you'll end up with some "funny" glitches)

I haven't already left a review for this absolute masterpiece of a game? Well let me rectify that.

Everything about this game is satisfying (unless you're farming certain rare drops). The combat and movement? A dream. Digging and building? Perfect. The music? If you don't already own the game, you can hear how kickass it is in the trailers. Well what about the sense of progression? You're constantly being fed new items, ores, accessories, and weapons. All of which offers a ton of variety and choice.

Still not convinced? Re-Logic doesn't know how to leave well enough alone, and more than 13 years later they STILL update this game. Plus there's dozens of fantastic mods that offer more even more gameplay and replayability. Hell, even if this game was still only pre-hardmode I'd still give it a recommendation.

Seriously if you've never played this game and it looks even slightly interesting, do yourself a favor and buy it.
Extra plus, multiplayer works great, even without a dedicated server.

I have nothing to say about the story, locations, characters, or anything like that. That's only because even though there is changes they feel pretty good to get through (mostly).

The big thing for me is this is EXACTLY what an action oriented final fantasy game should feel like. Polished, with a fun magic system. Elements and statuses exist/do anything A hint of "turn based" combat for the old fans. Even just moving around feels better here. FF15 did an awful job providing that for us, and from a quick glance at FF16 it's much of the same.

What the hell happened here?

This game looks beautiful and has lots of flashy in your face effects. Prompto and Ignis are interesting characters, and I sort of enjoyed the main villain (even if the actual interactions with him are painful). Everything else about this game feels like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Gladiolus is the most inconsistently written character I've ever had the displeasure of getting constantly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at and harassed by. One moment he's chill, being understanding and helpful, and mere seconds later "♥♥♥♥ you Noctis you little ♥♥♥♥♥ yeah keep crying" There's no character development that occurs, this happens the entire game. This character feels like somebody took the worst parts of other "tough guy" characters from the FF series and mashed them together.

You can run any normal weapons and do measly 200 damage strikes and completely get your ass kicked every fight near the end of the game, or you can use the warp strike weapon and just spam 9999 hits through every fight and instead of being frustrating or fun it's just... boring. Zero thought process required, just warp to a spot, heal and get your mp back, warp strike, repeat. If you like the idea of using magic, you're gonna spend 40% of your time in this game hunting down nodes and using the menu to craft spells. On the upside at least the spell crafting system feels nice.

Getting around the world is miserable. The car is slow, even with all of the upgrades, and you have such LITTLE control over where you're going unless you auto drive/fast travel (thankfully this is an option once you've been to a location already). Moving around on foot wouldn't feel so bad if the map actually indicated what you can/cannot stand on, and especially wouldn't be so bad if quests didn't have random invisible markers that won't let you progress until you find whatever the trigger is. Chocobos are an option, but you have to rent them. This is further worsened by the fact you cannot rent them for more than three in game days. Just another thing to slow down the game and put you into more menus.

I think my biggest gripe probably comes from the last section of the game, where it suddenly becomes a horror game relying on constant cheap jumpscares that, you guessed it, take control away from you. I didn't even mind that they took away all of your weapons and forced you to use the only "consistent" magic option available I could absolutely overlook the horror game jumpscare nonsense if everything else wasn't so awful.

I am abjectly horrified at the prospect FF16 is going to be the same.

They don't look as pretty, but do yourself a favor and go play FF3, 4, 6, 7, 9, or 10 instead if you haven't already. They're vastly better Final Fantasy experiences.

It's been a long time since I've played this. None of it looks like the game I played back then.

I'm way too smooth brain for this game, but it seems rad.

I love these games, but those player counts don't lie...
