A great game, one of those that takes a simple formula but executes it in such a way that it is fun and gets you absolutely hooked. The multiplayer is frenetic, and among all those games with suposedly fast gameplay, this one that may seem slower at first, turns out to be surprisingly tactical, has very nice movement, well defined classes, a gunplay that feels absolutely fantastic (more like cannonplay), and is very rewarding when teammates work along.

And I haven't even started with how immersive it is... The characterization of the Warhammer background, the scenarios, and -my favourite- how the guards hold the line until the marines arrive to save the day, really takes you to the 41st millenium. It is a beautiful game, one which doesn't have to brag with a thousand bells and whistles and a never-ending and frankly nonsense progress system, but shines because of how well it executes the well focused approach it has chosen.

The customization of your astartes, while a little misleading at the beginning, is very flexible and really lets you paint your own chapter to your exact liking. And the beautifully done armors will always leave you wanting to get that honor guard faceplate with the most golden eagle features.

I wanted to write a concise opinion, but now I can't leave the co-op ("Operations") mode without mention. The way it's woven into the campaign (the co-op missions are the ones that your allied squads do during the main campaign) gives it an extra point for the already mentioned immersion, as you go for those objectives that you thought were secondary, and then realize that really are bigger than some you had to deal with in the campaign -as the protagonist-. Plus, the character progression is a little mix that results in an original, quite simple, and flexible system for spec-ing your marine, and the way it is done, it makes you play with all the classes and all the weapons you want to develop.

Which in some games can be tedious, but the way this game implements classes and weapons, which are so satisfying to -properly- use, and the progress itself being well paced and quite fast, is a winning formula. And don't get it twisted: the weapons progress is specific for the co-op mode, but the armor and colors (I mean, all the customization part) are common for all multiplayer, either PVE or PVP.

3rd person hackn'slash that turned out quite better than I expected, and made me enjoy Warhammer 40k's universe from a new perspective. Don't mind the few hours spent on the Steam version, I played it on Xbox 360 when it came out.
