Under linux, you may have to modify some udev settings to get the controller to work for games (rather than just for steam big picture), but when you do, you'll find out what an amazing device this is.

The trackpad doesn't just function as a mouse or joystick, it actually feels them too, thanks to the haptics. The same goes for the DPAD, which is technically a trackpad that has a pressure switch, just like the actual trackpad, but manages to feel like a dpad. Another innovative feature is the grip switches: squeezing your hand a little harder is also a button!

You likely will have to customize the controller configuration for many games, which takes a bit of getting used to, but that does mean you get to setup your controller just the way you want it. If you take it with you to someone else's house, the controller configuration is supposed to come with it, which should be great, but I haven't actually tested that yet.
