An excellent "game" to put on while watching Youtube or listening to a podcast. If you like watching numbers go up you'll dig it. There's really no downside to idling in any and every skill available, but it helps and often pays to focus on just a couple at a time to unlock some useful passive abilities.
Some (read: most) idle games are just a means to an end, kinda pointless really...But this game provides a bit more satisfaction than those, and the recent expansion also adds a slightly guided/pointed experience too through the township ability.
You set a personal goal and just let it go, progress bars fill, numbers go up, resources pool, baddies die, xp is gained, etc.
One of the more sleeker looking idle games I've played too, though some screens venture into information overload territory...

Click to start the game. Nothing happens. I forget about it...10 minutes later the game launcher finally starts up. I have 1.3 hours "played" this week. Zero of that was actually in game, all 1.3 hours were spent just trying to get to the main menu. When I do manage to get in the game makes me change my name...every single time. This is starting to feel like the devs are just beating a long dead horse. Avoid at all costs.

EDIT: The Devs have recently drastically lowered the install size, so disregard that portion of the review below. It's below 40 gigs now.

When I started playing I was like "This game seems like something the Van Helsing devs made"
IDK why, just something about it is "familiar," a familiar...jankiness...
Turns out it actually is the same devs...who woulda thunkit?

The game is alright so far, nothing overly spectacular or underwhelming, just alright...a bit repetitive even after an hour.
I wouldn't say it's worth $45 yet (i personally haven't got far into the game) and it takes an obnoxiously absurd amount of space on your harddrive (121 gigs) for what is offered.
All of the animations and camera movements look like they are rendered at 30fps even when you have well over 60fps.
Noticeable 1-2 second lag when opening a character sheet or swapping between character sheets.
Some pretty massive load times if installed on a regular HDD, we're talking 5+ minutes.
The game was 124 gigs during Early Access, the devs mentioned they would lower the final size of the game by a "considerable amount"......it's 121 gigs now....thanks I guess?

I'll mark it positive, but leaning negative. Debating on refunding it to be honest.

If you've played a LEGO game in the past you more or less know what you're in for already, the general game flow and such. But for some reason this game feels like it refreshes the formula a bit. If it isn't broke, don't fix it...but you might be able to shine it up a bit. There seems to be quite a bit of content to last a long while, each level or stage or whatever has been a pretty decent length. The graphics are pretty great for a LEGO game, and the jokes are actually decent (when the wall blew up and the Stormtroopers were in the hot tub, "this is not the pod you're looking for," I cracked up a bit) The combat seems to be a mix of say...Batman melee and GOW shooting. All in all I think you'll be pleased with this if you enjoy LEGO games already, like Star Wars, or even if this is your first jump into the game series it's never been in a better spot IMHO.

**I don't think there's character customization like in the past for whatever reason, so if that's your thing, you might be pretty disappointed it's not present**

Can't complete the 2nd tutorial quest. Right after it tells you to rotate the camera. "Complete" the quest button does nothing. It also seems that my tracker still shows the previous quest i completed and my quest log shows the next...both are done...nothing happens when I click complete. Relogging does nothing either. Not exactly a good first impression literally 3 minutes into starting the game for the first time.

I'll make a new dude and try again, but it's a thumbs down from me for the time being, for that game ending bug.

My son and I have been having a blast playing this together. It's more-or-less a sorta diablo for kids with enough depth to keep adults entertained as well. I definitely would recommend getting the DLCs though, it seems like it might be a bit short if you don't.
