Game itself is excellent. It's a good evolution from PD2, no more 5 minutes of waiting on drills and the power creep has been dialed back enough that the combat actually requires a modicum of strategy on higher difficulties.

However, the game fails in the two categories that everyone was worried about leading up to launch.

Firstly, all heists are online only. Even when Solo. Not sure what the point of this was. On Launch Day the matchmaking was down for about 12 hours, and on Day 2 it's down in the evening (Europe) once again (I am writing this while being unable to "matchmake" into a private lobby).

The second issue is MTX. The Devs have stated that these will be added post launch. You've heard this before - wait until the reviews and the bulk of early sales are in, then drop the Fortnite shop via an update. The classic bait and switch. Absolutely disgusting. Of course, we don't know the extent of this, but this review is staying on negative until Offline Play is available and MTX are in the game, reasonably priced and limited to a few cosmetics. This game will be getting 4 paid DLCs per year, no reason to be greedy outside of that.

Off to MK1 I guess.

Alright, rewriting the review just after completing the Main Story on the highest difficulty. The core gameplay itself is once again excellent, the story serves its purpose and always throws in a surprise when you think it's becoming predictable, and the new Stances and enemy types nicely evolve the Fallen Order Formula. But, like with most AAA games nowadays, it dies a death of a thousand cuts due to bugs and questionable decisions. A quick list of what I noticed, in no particular order:

-Achievements are completely broken, both on Steam and in the EA App.
-While performance is far more stable than the average internet troll and NikTek subscriber is making it out to be, there are still some major drops in transitions and (strangely) the galaxy map.
-The game lacks DLSS support. There's only AMD FSR, and turning that off turns the game into a blurry mess for reasons unkown to me.
-Preorder bonuses are completely missing. I contacted support about this, but I guess releasing a game on a friday causes issues in that regard.
-There is no option to hold sprint. Only toggle is available. Even Fallen Order had that option.
-Certain cloaked enemies will have their cloth physics bug out BADLY, covering the entire screen in cloth and making them an absolute pain to fight.
-The open world sections are empty, boring and pointless. Luckily most of the main story still takes place in linear ares, like Fallen Order.
-On MNK, sensitivity is greatly reduced in non-combat zones, requiring multiple full mousepads to even turn a 90° corner.
-Some of the menu options, particularly the customization section, are often unresponsive, requiring the player to completey back out of the menu to reset it.

And that's not even all of them. I guess it's just the usual, EA publishing a Full-Price Beta Test, so no surprises there. Which is a shame, because the game itself is easily GOTY material.

UPDATE, half a year later:
-Performance seems to have improved, FSR can be turned off now (lol), DLSS is now supported and functioning properly as far as I can tell
-Menus are still VERY broken on occasion
-Preorder Bonus Detection is fixed! All items are added retroactively, even on existing save files
-Cloth physics seem to be fixed
-Sprint Hold is still missing. Reckon you could make a macro to add it yourself, but it's still poor that this is necessary in a AAA game (again, the Prequel had the option!)
-Achievement detection still seems to be wonky, but it's harder to tell now that I have all the story achievements (all of them unlocked at once at some point)

Negative review due to micro transactions being added a few weeks after release, after the reviews were out. I guess some people can't help themselves.

The game itself is excellent. I don't really like the atmosphere and environments compared to 2+3R, but the combat system is so damn smooth that it's addicting. Story serves it's purpose, but there's overall not a whole lot of it.

Makes a lot of comprimises and many of the boss designs are frankly horrible and/or lazy, but apart from that it's still a marvelous experience that keeps you busy for 100+ hours.

Nothing too deep in story or gameplay, but a fun experience and there's nothing flawed about the game. I've been seeing a lot of complaints about performance, but as long as you don't try to 4k raytrace with some RTX 20xx setup you'll be perfectly fine in my experience.

I very nearly cried at the end, and that's a compliment.

If you've played Innocence and are browsing reviews to see if this sequel is any good - there's nothing to worry about. Requiem is more of the same gameplay- and quality-wise, with innovations that work, and a lot more playtime than the first one too. There were several points where I was like "Happy ending, now I gotta wait a few years for the next one", and the game went "Nah man, take another chapter". ♥♥♥♥, it should've ended. That doesn't mean the game went on for too long; it just means that it had a few opportunities to end itself, but decided to keep going and to break my heart with its ending.

With that said, on the technical side the game feels a bit less optimized than its predecessor, and especially in sections where many rats load in at once I had some FPS drops. My PC is significantly below the Minimum System Requirements in some categories though, and I was still able to enjoy the game at mostly stable framerate with a few graphical concessions. This is the unpatched release version though, so it might've improved by the time you read this.

GOAT, nothing else. It's tough describe (well so there's a timeloop and a small solar system and secrets and exploration and...). Go play it, thank me later.

Great game, but the beauty comes from beating it. It is no doubt harder than any of the Souls Games, so only buy if you are able to recover from Frustration quickly. The Combat System is *not* Souls-like, dodging is an unviable to suicidal strategy - this is a Deflect-Heavy Game.

If you want to get significantly better at FPS, this one is the way to go. If you know what you are doing, the App has got absolutely everything to need to create an effective warmup or training routine. Altough the App is in 'Very Early Access', it runs smoothly, has a ton of features and only crashes rarely.
