This game honestly feels like it was written by some dude who was REALLY bitter that his highschool crush didn't like him back. You're supposed to project a personality on Emily, she's not really a character in the first place. You're supposed to hate her boyfriend because you're such a nice guy and girls only date jerks. You can take advantage of her while drunk because...emotional depth?

Frustrating in an unintentional way.
At least it was free.

Fallout and the Venture Brothers had a baby, and that baby was this wonderfully-written and gloriously bizarre DLC.

Don't forget to wash the walking eye.

Early Access Review

A game in development about a game in development Hell.

For full disclosure, I bought this game purely because James Urbaniak is in it. But when I began playing it, I realized it's one of the most unique and entertaining games I've played in a long, long time. Its story and its ideas are so strange it's hard to explain, but that is not a bad thing.

You take the role of a playtester working for some developers who simply cannot get their ideas aligned and cannot get along with each other. There's more to the game than meets the eye, though, and soon the game takes a darker, more personal turn.

The gameplay consists of a lot of puzzles, but instead of working with the game mechanics, you change the game mechanics around you to get through the unfinished game.
The graphics aren't anything too fancy on a technical level, but the designs make up for it. The combination of styles and the selective use of color make it very visually pleasing.
The music is quite good as well. A lot of the game is ambient noise, but when the music does play it always enhances the mood. For once, I'm actually going to listen to a soundtrack steam gave me.
The dialogue is very funny, very meta, and very well-acted. The characters' personalities are entirely conveyed through voice, and it is done VERY well.

The Magic Circle is something you have to play to fully understand. The ideas it discusses and the moral dilemmas it brings up are continuously interesting, and I had a lot of fun playing it.

If you like difficult and precise platformers with tight controls and a gorgeously dreary atmosphere, you'll probably enjoy this.

This game will challenge anyone, even seasoned players, but the tight controls feel great. The soundtrack is lovely, but the REAL draw to this game is its art. Very Lovecraftian, very dark, and very beautiful. It's fun, it's challenging, and it's cheap. Definitely worth a purchase.
