Great game especially with friends. Has a bump here and there, and watch out for Sony's antics, but otherwise the best execution of a live service I've ever seen. I literally want to give them money.

At first glance, this game is a management sim, and fairly limited one at that - you manage four attributes (church, people, military, wealth) represented by four meters, using only a series of binary answers to questions presented as cards. Your goal at this level is to prevent any meter going to min or to max, which gets you killed in a variety of creative ways, forcing you to start a new run. So, as a sort of personal score, you aim to survive for the longest time you can.

At the second level, you start to strategize, because every consecutive run is built on the previous runs. Some decisions introduce (or remove) characters and thus their events for a number of following runs, and some may introduce perks lasting throughout the game. As such, you are encouraged to sometimes "sacrifice" a run in order to build a better foundation for the next one, and thus achieve longer reigns.

At yet another level, a storyline emerges from the cards getting drawn. While the previous ways of play are centered around RNG, this is the time when you start to realize there's more to your ordeal. You embark to search for clues and slowly realize how some cards play into another, and how perceived random gibberish from several runs ago could in fact be part of the answer. The puzzle spans hundreds of years and it certainly feels that convoluted. Everything could be a hint.

At the end, your line may perish and you truly start over from scratch. Or perhaps this is the meta-run when you finally beat all the necessary puzzles. Either way, this is very much worth the €3.

Rich story in a beautifully crafted world populated by interesting characters. Gameplay isn't too deep, but satisfying enough to keep you wanting to break combo records. Brilliant voice acting. Contains surprisingly deep motifs despite the colorful aesthetic, but it's handled delicately in a way I would recommend the game even to kids.

Controller recommended. Depending on how much you're gonna be into the combat mechanics, it offers some level of replayability. I've definitely finished the game more than once, but it does shine best for the first time, or with significant breaks between playthroughs, to keep the story and voice acting fresh.

Cool spaceship builder with occasional physics issues.

Includes meager survival elements (power generation, very basic enemies, temperature & atmosphere monitoring).

The strongest aspect is the sandbox builder with lego-like building blocks, both cosmetic and functional. Second best is the mod support and the extensive number of mods available for this game. Some of these mods have become such a standard some consider the game incomplete without them, though which mods these are differs from person to person.

The devs continue to update the game with FreeLC (minor game mechanics & new blocks) and DLC content (mostly cosmetic blocks). Players who do not own a particular DLC can still use its blocks (e.g. in other players' ships), but they cannot build or repair those blocks.

Gripping narrative with fun puzzles. Gratned, the controls might be finicky at times, especially in terms of object collision with the portals, but it's a very minor annoyance. It's a cult classic for a reason.

Great rogue-lite journey that can get really hard really fast. Keeps you on your toes with the everpresent decisions and their outcomes. Couple bad calls and your run is done.

Transistor is one of my most favorite games ever.

I picked it up after I accidentally stumbled upon Bastion and fell in love with it, only to experience the same, if not better, feeling again. The art is unique, the soundtrack incredibly good, and the overall atmosphere is enthralling and beautiful.

The fighting system is a kind of a mix of real-time and turn-based combat. You are given a certain number of points represented as bar and you can spend those points on performing abilities uncluding movement, think mana or energy. This whole "picking a move" phase happens when the game is paused, but the excution itself is real time. You can use your moves any time on their own too, but this "tactical" way is more effective.

You level up through gaining experience points, but since the individual game levels are pretty much straigthforward corridors, there's no grinding involved and the experience points come sort of naturally, without any big effort. What matters though is what you spend them on. You can either buy a new skill, unlock an upgrade slot for a move you already have an older one, or increase your memory, which in turn increases the number of moves you can have at any single time. You can't always do all of the above, but that's pretty much how it works.

On death, you lose some of your moves untill you "recharge" at specific bind points or lose all of your moves and die. That can be kind of irritating since if the move randomly deactivated happens to be your main source of damage, you're pretty much screwed. Although it brings in a certain level of challengem it can be a lot painful.

The story is captivating, reflecting the overall mood of the game. Similarly to Bastion, there's only one narrator, which only adds to the unique feelings of the empty city.

Great game, totally recommend it.

Incredibly great piece of music, I would buy this on its own, if it would come to it.

Totally stunning game.

First of all, this game's main quality lies in the beautiful visuals and breathtaking atmosphere. It's a relaxing trip to a fairy tale-like land with occasional, surprisingly dark moments.

You control two brothers - each using one analog stick on your controller (note - I haven't tried playing it on keyboard, but the game offered me a choice to map the keys, so it may be possible). You can only move and interact with your surroundings by pressing one key for each of the brothers, nothing more. The only game mechanic present is figuring out how to get past an obstacle in the way - take that away and you've basically got a very fine movie. It can sometimes get challenging, but that's more about confusing the controls for the characters. There are occasional "combat" scenes, but they are all based around interacting with the surroundings, so they're rather easy.

The story progresses very naturally and I very often found myself just gazing at the scenery opened before me rather than moving forward. It's overall short, and if you're a student like me with limited access to finances, the €15 price tag may be a bit too high, so I recommend grabbing it on sale. But if you don't face such issues, don't wait for anything and just go buy it.
