I've been a fan of both the Drakengard trilogy and NieR for years, so I was ecstatic when I heard news of this game back when it was first announced and pre-ordered it as soon as I could. The series has always been interesting (and a bit odd) with killer soundtracks, though the gameplay was always a bit clunky. NieR:Automata has definitely stepped up in that department, though. It's a great game with 26 endings (several of which are joke endings), and it's personally one of my favourite games ever. I could go on and on about it for ages just ask any of my friends, but for the sake of this review I'll just leave it at this: please give this funky little game a try. It's certainly not for everyone, but you may surprise yourself with how much you enjoy the game and the bomb ass soundtrack.

One important thing that should be mentioned is that there have been issues reported by several people regarding the port. I guess I've gotten lucky so far and haven't experienced it myself (with over 120hrs in at the time of this review), but should you run into any issues, someone created a fix that can be easily found in the community hub for the game.

Tbh, I originally bought this for the achievements so I could spell stuff on my profile.

After I started playing, I was surprised to find that I actually really enjoyed the puzzles. This game is inexpensive and has nice level variety, so I'd definitely recommend it..

This game is great whether you're playing solo or with a few friends. There are many ways to customize your ball, which is nice, and the user created levels add even more to the game. The controls can be a little silly on occasion, but are generally very responsive.

Somehow this is one of my favorite games I've ever had the pleasure of playing. So much so that I have over 500hrs into the playstation version alone at the time of this review.

Visually, this game is stunning. It's been years since it came out and I'm still in awe over how beautiful the scenery is and how much fun it is to explore the world. The character designs are equally wonderful and memorable, and help to flesh out the cast and their own unique quirks with nice little details.

The story, while far from perfect, is still beautiful. The camaraderie that the Chocobros (Noctis, Ignis, Prompto, and Gladiolus) share as their journey to reclaim their home and fulfill Noctis' destiny is wonderful to see and helps players immerse themselves in a world on the brink of ruin. The DLC that didn't get cancelled help add to the story and flesh out characters and all but one are included in the PC's base game. There is also a movie and short anime available, and while I would definitely recommend viewing them both, you shouldn't be lost if you choose not to watch.

The combat is enjoyable, but might feel clunky initially for some players. The variety of attack options, whether that be swords, magic, combos with other characters, or summons help keep things exciting. The world is vast and filled with all sorts of side quests and dungeons that will help you get used to the combat quickly. There are also more laid back activities like fishing and racing chocobos, which is very fun.

While I would have loved to see what the original FF Versus XIII game (before FFXV became a main title game it was slated to be part of Fabula Nova Crystallis, tying it to FFXIII) would have been like, and while I also would have liked to see what this game would have become if it hadn't been rushed in the end, I still really enjoyed this game. It's a wonderful and memorable experience. I highly recommend giving it a try.

I remember buying this game when it was in pre-alpha and on Kickstarter back in August of 2015. The premise behind it seemed fun and unique, and while it had its fair share of bugs and was faaaaaaar from complete, I had fun roaming around the map and occasionally causing trouble.

Flash forward almost three years, and it's improved leaps and bounds since I first played it. It's still not perfect, nor is it complete at the time of this review, but you can see the amount of love and work the devs have put into this game. They've got an interesting story they're fleshing out, unique, sometimes wonky weapons, and the ability to play the game the way you want. I'm also fond of how it really doesn't take itself too seriously, and that it has replay value since the map is procedurally generated each time.

They also have their own forums that you can submit bugs to or just chat about the game, which is lovely. They're very transparent with what they do in their weekly updates.

Side note: I only paid $15 or $20 for it back in 2015, so I was surprised to see the pricetag bumped up to $50 prior to the game being removed from the store. But once the game is fully released, if it seems like something you might enjoy, I'd wholeheartedly recommend purchasing it.
