This is the third subjective, unbiased and totally unfunny review yet again but for HyperD Nep VGen. Nothing has changed. It’s still a JRPG trough and trough. For the third time you play teenager girls having an adventure by visiting dungeons, fighting monsters while they attempt to break the 4th wall to make fun of popculture and videogames.

And this time the writing is back to form. The girls take nothing serious and get sidetracked a lot by talking nonsense even in front of impending doom. And It’s gloriously entertaining! Some of the situations the girls find themselves in are so hilariously stupid that they become good again.

The same gameplay pattern too? Yes! Follow the story as visual novel, go to dungeon, fight monsters, beat boss, continue, Repeat! New is that instead of a single overhead worldmap, the world is separated into small subscreens. Some of them get unlocked by going into a dungeon from one side and leaving trough the other. Clever!

Stella’s Dungeon, the spelunker mini game, is also back. And unlike the previous version (which forced me to not 100% the last game) it’s fast, more complex, yet simplified. There is still a gigantic amount of items to craft, to loot and use but it won’t bulldozer over you because the devs finally added a feature to check which monster, in which dungeon drops which item: Making the constant alt-tabbing to a browser window to check the games wikipedia obsolete.

The combat system got changed a tiny bit as well. You can’t spam superattacks anymore, cuz actionpoints don’t automatically refill when leaving a dungeon. Actionpoints need to be gathered by attacking monsters with rush attacks. Makes the combat much more challenging. But overall it stays the exact same. Yay for animation-skip-button!

Shares of the nations no longer come into play to progress the story. The 3 possible endings will be triggered by watching optional VN-events. There is more details to it, but please check one of the dozens guides that explain how to get the endings. Thanks!

The humour is marvelous, all characters loveable, all essential DLC’s are already integrated into the game without any additional purchase. This is the game Rebirth 1+2 should’ve ben from begin with. Without second thought, I recommend V Generation to those that like the prequels or JRPG's in general.
