While I am giving this game a positive review (because it's very rad), there is something you need to know before buying.

The game suffers from a weird bug - game pauses itself randomly. Happens to me on rare occasions on Windows desktop. And happens to me frequently on Steam Deck, BUT only when I use KBM config.

The issue seems to dissapear, when

• I use the official layout (which is just gamepad mappings);
  
• I use hybrid layout (mouse to right trackpad and gyro, everything else is gamepad mappings).

Another workaround which kinda works is to plug a gamepad and set it aside. Here are couple of test cases:

• Windows PC, connected Dualshock 4 via cable, set it aside, issue did not occur during 20 minute playtime.
  
• Windows PC, connected Dualshock 4 via cable, played with KBM config, issue occured.
  
• Windows PC, connected Dualshock 4 via cable, played with hybrid config, issue did not occur during another 20 minute playtime.
  
• Steam Deck, connected Dualshock 4 via Bluetooth, set it aside, rearranged gamepads order so DS4 is the 1st, played with SD controller with KBM config, issue did not occur.
  
• Steam Deck, connected Dualshock 4 via Bluetooth, set it aside, rearranged gamepads order so DS4 is the 2nd, played with SD controller with KBM config, issue occured.

Anyway, if this issue happens to you, and my workarounds don't work, just refund the game. Devs moved on to a different project.

Go to Properties -> Betas and opt for "openbeta-win64" branch. You'll get better performance, 60 fps and widescreen ratio (you'll have to use 4:3 ratio to play dailies, though).

The game is good. To be played with pals.
Versus mode is not noob-friendly, expect getting kicked for any reason.
Coop mode is chill, but has less lobbies.

Really good game. Unfortunately it was released in poor state and wasn't patched properly ever since.
And some time later Rockstar released new fancy remasters that didn't fix old bugs but also introduced new ones.

Thankfully, the community has made lots of fixes. And actually I wrote a review where I linked a tool that applies all the necessary stuff. And then some Steam Moderator banned it for violating Steam Rules & Guidelines. Later Support stuff explained that, I quote:
"[They] don't allow non-Steam patches or mods to be advertised on Steam. You're free to use external downloads at your own risk, but [they] don't support them being advertised via Steam".
Yeah, ok.

Anyway, don't support Rockstar.

Take-Two has filed a suit against creators of re3 and reVC, reverse-engineered source code of GTA3 and Vice City respectfully. Their complaints are:
- it's distribution of pirated software - which is a lie, you still need Steam copy to make it work.
- it allows to run those games on Nintendo Switch - partially true - you need homebrew OS to make it work, which in turn:

• puts user in risk of getting banned from Nintendo Online,
  
• only works on early revisions of mentioned console, which is not sold after Switch Lite release.

And also, you need fan-patches, to make this game work properly with Widescreen resolutions, modern gamepads and so on. R* didn't do anything about this, and the outcome of of mentioned lawsuit can make those mods illegal.
Don't support R* and Take-Two.

It's certainly not a bad game. I like its simplicity. I think hand-drawn aesthetics are superior. Same goes for DannyB music.
Howerer, performance is indeed very poor. Flash to blame. Lowering resolution and details didn't help.
So yeah, go for Rebirth.

Played it in one sitting and loved it. A hand-crafted adventure with unique gameplay and great animation work, that ends right when it becomes repetitive.

Played this game on a phone and had a blast.
To minimize your frustration with PC port, apply Silent Patch.

Lock the game's framerate to 60fps (or turn on VSync via Nvidia/AMD Control Panel) to avoid gamebreaking bugs.

Install Methanhydrat's Mouse Fix to make the aiming more consistent.

If you plan to make multiple saves, load them manually rather pressing "Continue game" to avoid sudden difficulty changes.

Set the difficulty to Hard. And enjoy this fantastic game.
