Funny, stylish visual novel and open world driving game that doesn't overstay its welcome.

One of my favorite games I played during COVID lockdowns. The addition of tower defense elements and the slow creep of corruption gives this game a sense of tension and purpose I find lacking in similar games like Banished and Dwarf Fortress. The god powers give you the ability to swing a fight if applied carefully, allowing your village to survive a night where a wave of attackers would otherwise breach your defenses. It’s a fun twist that allows you to take risks as you expand your base.

I played this in 2021 and the game was polished with a lot of content - don’t heed the comments complaining about the lack of updates, because this game is fully-featured and feels complete, including a cool roguelike mode where you can build up bonuses as you build more villages across a meta-level world map. While I’d love to see a big patch or expansion someday, this is absolutely worth full price and has been for a couple of years.

Satisfying puzzle/tower defense play with a well-balanced campaign that keeps giving you new toys to play with. Great controller support, which is rare for the genre.

If, like me, you find Fallout strangely soothing, this is a pretty new map for you to explore and some weird new mechanics to sink time into.
