TL:DR: yes.

I've read a lot of reviews about this game being "bad" because they changed (and in my opinion improved) some game mechanics, making you inclined to use more strategy in your approach to fighting Hellspawn. People using their "positions of power" such as portraying themselves as being experienced FPS players to make this seem like a horrible game, straight to the core, hasn't been to uncommon. I thought I'd shed some light on this, and give you my two cents while I'm at it.

Concerning ammo:

The amount of ammo you find on the map is seemingly less than in DOOM (2016), however there is nothing, aside from stubbornness, that is stopping you from getting a few chainsaw kills in on the vast amount of Imp's and regular zombies walking around. It seems as if innovation is frowned upon and that those who let something as trivial as this be a deal-breaker for them don't know about the fact that the amount of ammo you generally have depends on which difficulty you're playing at.
Aiming abilities have already been established in FPS games long ago, and DOOM Eternal is looking to take a step further by incorporating added challenges, such as resource management and thinking outside of the crosshair.

Collectibles and secrets:

Optional. For some reason people are complaining about the amount of collectibles present in this game. If you don't want to go looking for them, surprise! You don't have to. I personally like this because the codexes you find reveal more about the story of the game. (Yes I care about DOOM lore, silly as it may seem :)

Ripping and Tearing, on your OWN terms:

Many reviews have pointed out that because of the ammo "issue", they supposedly can't Rip and Tear they same way they could in the last instalment. Firstly, this isn't supposed to be the same game with different levels, if that were the case they could just have made a DLC for the last iteration. Secondly, you can! Running around on "I'm too young to die" difficulty grants you the ability to use virtually any weapon you want to fight the demons. The only catch is that some weapons work better than others on certain demons (*GASP* OH NOO! That's totally not how it was the last time..)

Essentially, from what I've read, the main concern seems to be that this *new* game isn't like the *old* game. With that said, I thought I'd put up a difficulty chart for those who made it this far.

"I'm too young to die" (Easy): Wanna chill after work or heavy studying and just feel like shooting some demons? Then this one's for you.

"Hurt me plenty" (Medium-easy?): Feel up for a slight challenge and some heart-racing action? Be my guest.

"Ultra-Violence" (Hard): Friday night in, feeling dangerous and up for some intense demon-slaying? Eat your heart out!

"Nightmare" (Very hard): Stubbed your toe three days ago and still feel like punching a wall? How about you just Blood-Punch a stack of Imp's instead hoping that Cacodemon won't sneak up on you for the fifth time this minute.

"Ultra-Nightmare" (Extremely hard): Just came out of 200 years of cryo-sleep only to find out all the toilet paper is gone and you can't leave your house for at least 2 weeks? Might as well wipe with the remains of demons, then.

"Extra-Life mode" (uh..): Ever wondered what Mario64 would be like as an FPS? I guess this could be it.

To those who read all of this, or even bothered to skip down to this part, thanks. Now I'm gonna go back to playing this "horrible" game.

Yes. Just yes.
Doom has a very similar pace to that of the second installment in the franchise (Doom II) which is a really important factor to making the game great. I still think Doom III was OK but the slow pace and the horror element of the game made me dislike it quite a bit. With Doom (2016) I got back the feeling of being the most awesome dude to ever exist. You go fearless into battle, and come out even more fearless. The monsters/demons in the game are pretty cool. We have some of the original demons such as the revenant, possessed soldier etc, and also some I won't tell you about because it's kind of a surprise element to encounter them in the story for the first time. Overall I'd say the game is really good and well optimised despite the gorgeous graphics. There might be a few texture rendering bugs in some cases, but I personally haven't encountered any of these.

10/10

So I bought the legendary edition during the Black Friday sale because, well, honestly I had just heard good things about the game and I'd never played it so I wanted to try it out, and the Legendary Edition went for €7.49 so why the hell not?
I downloaded the game and the DLC's, launched it and got into the opening scene. I was somewhat dissapointed by the graphics but I wouldn't let that change anything. So I waited, created Leif Ericson (look the name up because it's pretty cool) and was about to be beheaded when this BIG ASS DRAGON LANDED AND MESSED ♥♥♥♥ UP. Well. I followed this guy into a cave, and I have to say, they've really thought about everything in this game, not graphics. Entities! There are literally hundreds of things to pick up in caves. But enough of that, lets get to the point.

Normally I don't play these kinds of RPG's, i usually play games such as Counter-Strike, GTA V or League of Legends, but this game was something special. I knew Bethesda had developed the Fallout-series too, and I knew that was pretty good, but I was new to TES. Anyways. I completed a few quests in what I thought was 3 hours, when it actually was more like 5-6 hours. This game really DEVOURS time. Seriously, do not buy this unless you have time because it's gonna steal time away from you if you start playing. It is one of the most captivating games I've played and the story is very well-made with an interesting main quest line, and the DLC's Dragonborn and Dawnguard give you an extra 20 hours of fun + side quests. The side quests aren't those ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ones where you buy milk and nothing happens. They have a purpose. And they often reveal something new about Skyrim that you didn't know.
This is the kind of game that you think about when you're at work or in school. Now, the vanilla game is good as hell, but it gets oh so much better with mods. I can recommend a few mods to make the game feel more immersive and realistic (OBS: not listed in any particular order!)

1. Realistic Waters Two - Makes the water look more realistic and change depending on the weather. Also changes a bit of the reflection.

2. Skyrim HD 2K Textures - Speaks for itself. You can also choose to install the official free DLC high-res pack, it does about the same thing.

3. SkyUI - Improves the item and magic menu to be more PC-friendly. Also looks a lot better.

4. Enhanced Blood Textures - I don't need to explain this. And it really makes a difference.

5. Skyrim Enhanced Camera - Lets you see your body and shadow in 1st person mode, also lets you ride horses and dragons in 1st person mode. Something like Battlefield 4 with the body part.

6. 4K Parallax Treebark - Yes, I know. Sounds pretty useless, but it really makes the game beautiful. Much of the nature in Skyrim consists of trees, and this mod makes the treebark look nearly photo-realistic.

7. Static mesh Improvement Mod (SMIM) - Makes barrels, ropes and poles etc. look better. A lot of people get annoyed by the fact that these meshes (seen all around Skyrim) look like absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the vanilla game.

8. Immersive Armours - Changes the variety of armours used by NPC's in-game. It's a very appreciated mod and also changes the loot a bit :p.

9. Immersive Weapons - Does the same as Immersive Armours but with weapons. Makes the weapons used by different bandits and such make more sense. So that a Bandit thug doesn't wield a Hallowed Stahlrim Greatsword.

10. A quality world map and Solstheim map - Makes the map look better, changes the look depending on the weather and also shows all the roads. Very nice to have.

11. RealVision ENB - Not really a standard mod, it has a pretty heavy impact on the PC, but makes the game look very realistic. Take a look at my screenshots and you'll see ;)

So, that're about all the mods I currently use, the ones I didn't list don't really do a lot of a difference, and you'll probably end up getting them later on anyway. Most of the listed mods can be found in the Steam Workshop, but the rest are available on nexusmods.com/skyrim (download the nexus mod manager [NMM] to make things easier)

Thanks for reading and I hope this review was somewhat helpful :)
BTW, Have a great day!
