I will compare this to other game mechanics I have experienced in other titles. With that said, I have never played Pokémon.

The first feels I get are that the world history, tech tree and incubation reminds of Ark Survival. Even the customisable settings have that feel.

Secondly, climbing! You can climb on almost everything as long as you have stamina. A very Genshin feel to that. If its to tall to climb, you can always try building a bit, or fly with a pal.

And then, base building. It feels very.. No man's sky. You can get a nice looking base, with a bit of effort. Some base building feels like Conan exiles, with structural integrity, but it's not really where it could be. I would prefer a bit more freedom of creativity, along the lines of Valheim, with their dependency on structural integrity, as in, use any ground connected building part as a supplier of support.

I really like deploying creatures in my base, having them slave away for my amusement and prosperity (much like Conan exiles /Medieval dynasty) feeling like a factory owner from a hundred years ago, but unlike a factory owner from a hundred years ago, I have actual human feelings, and want to build a really nice home for my Pals. So they get a jacuzzi, a pub, endless food, even (somewhat forced).. "companionship" (aka breeding grounds).

I even captured a few human evildoers, feels even better putting them to work (but they lack any skill <.<)

I have not tried coop yet, but as far as I know, only game mechanics that are affected are boss and dungeon areas that you can join a fight in progress.

If you like any of the mentioned games, you probably will have a nice time with this.

Oh, forgot to mention guns. There are guns.

I last played in early december 2020, and having played both old time baldurs gate(s), icewind dale, neverwinter nights, and divinity original sin 1 and 2, I am here, hours before release, completely crushing that install button, im gonna break my hand.

As for game content, i remember one thing very well: Pushing.. Me, a meager human wielding a pointy stick with glitter, pushed an ogre down some stairs.. and in the few moments before he got up and smushed me into a paste, i was ecstatic :D

I can see this game being really great, but its far from it.

It does have great graphics, but so does a classical painting, and the painting wont give you a stroke.

Full nudity: its a good thing, we all are naked all the time, beneath our clothing. but changing penis size from a micropenis, to a micropenis with 10cm foreskin.. no.. while a female can get emergency flotation devices.. a lot of male insecurity with the devs?

Shelter/respawning.. yeah never worked.. I only play PVE, and in this game single player, but could only ever use random respawn, and not once i got within two sectors of where i died. basically starting a new game every time i die? no thanks.

No private server hosting. that is some Rockstar level ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, expecting people to pay for server hosting for a game that is so far from being ready.. and probably having a bit of change running back.. yeah, no.

your character will die of thirst if you leave a river for five minutes. Seriously drink like a camel, retains water like a brick.
not once did i even try to cook food, because even after eating 10 pumpkins, the bastard was still hungry.. i know about all the really nice and deep fluff about keeping a check on carbs, fat protein, vitamins and everything, but hunger does not work that way. you can eat clay, and you will get full even if it has zero nutrition.

When multiplayer works, no way that i saw to see your friends on the map, or team up, other than agreeing not to whack each other.

I can not in any way recommend playing this game right now. It had a free weekend at time of writing, and a 50% sale, so i could recommend buying it, but i fear... if this game havent got further than this in its time (seen posts about the same bugs from three years ago), then its more likely they are squeezing the last life out of it and abandoning then actually fixing it.

I hope i am wrong, but i wont be holding my breath.

I've been on and off for this game for quite a while, and sometimes its too much of a grind, and then an update rolls around and kicks it up a notch. singleplayer can feel like an outright chore, but gather a friend or three and it becomes as relaxing or challenging you want. It's well worth a go.

Fine. I give in. with the additions of tunnels, canals and (one) bridge, since i have been nagging about it for civ V for maybe six years, yeah, now i guess i can say civ VI is allright. I still 100% miss the random encounters from civ IV though. buuut.. disaster level 4 is ok. for now.. i wantz moooar! xD

Re-review: Dont waste your money on 2k. Since they forced their launcher on me, Civ VI have been unplayable with random, no error reports, crashing or freezing, a solid issue experienced by many players. 2k has shown zero interest in looking into this problem.

I can not recommend this under these circumstances, and i have been playing civ since -91. It was a good 30 years...

A nice sweet bikeride through a swedish autumn island landscape, with the occasional murderous robot shooting at you. Perfect!

Been at this game since.. quite early access days. liked it from the start, especially the part where you can claim almost any space as your own, and build almost however you like.

Comparing it to Ark, this game is very similar, lack of dinosaurs is no problem, there is plenty to kill you (like mountains! because there could be a pile of treasure at any top, and you need to know! xD)
..

Anyway, i recommend this, good for co-op adventures, good for singleplaying with a side of netflix.
