How the game is in its current state i cant recommend it.

Ill try to look at this game without my prior stellaris expierence. At the time of this review i played 1 full game as federation and 1 fill game as klingon.

Start of the game(time spent expanding out of your first 4 worlds):
- As federation you have easy at the start of the game. all other planets are within the first starbase so collecting "trade" gives you a boost right away and in combination the reduced cost for colony ships makes it easy. you also have "combat science ships" in the form of the cerritos and the enterprise, this result that the missions towards the borg and minor powers is a breeze. As for the starting combat ship the miranda seems quite balanced.

- As Klingons life is very different at the start of the game. Right away you have to fight the stability of your planets while collecting less income because 2 planets are outside the collection range of the first starbase. To combat the low stability i tried building hunting grounds as the "warrior" job should provide stability. The stability that the warriror job provides is an absolute joke, the warrior job is just a drain on the economy so i ended up closing all warrior jobs on the starting worlds to get a decent economy going (not really the way of the warrior right). the bird of prey is a joke at the start, it is supposed to have cloak for hit and run combat.

Midgame (encountering the first and integrating them minor powers)
Weapon balance starts to feel weird at this part of the game.

- As Federation the game becomes boring at this point. the only war you might have is with the cardassians to liberate bajor, at this point the ai will also start falling behind on the player. all you do as the federation is expand and help the romulans with a transport ship which for some reason is locked on the mission tree behind some weird requirements (integrate 2 minor powers). you should get the intrepid and excelsior during this time, timeline wise it is weird to get the excelsior after the intrepid but ok.

-As Klingon you should have a decent economy but horrible tech and this phase is just about expanding and performing coups on minor powers. But to perform a coup you have to be withing the warp logistics range which will be further a massive issue in the endgame. the warbird and k'tinga are how i expect them

Endgame (snorefest)
Currently the only reliable way to win this game is through gaining 12 civics. when you play as the federation you can integrate all subject while not having to worry about them being within you logistic warp range, is the minor power 40 system away from you? no problem at all. Are you a klingon and you want to coup someone 40 systems away? time to build a starbase snake towards the minor power just to get there and the federation is already integrating them, and there is now way to cancel that.

ofcourse you can win through the point system but the snorefest will start 200 years before that date.


There are alot bad things i didnt cover here but as a star trek fan i want to like this game, but in its current state it is very difficult.

i did 2 seasons with alpha tauri and managed to become driverchampion and construction champion by quite a large margin in the second season.

the first 10-15 hours are fun but after that it rapidly decreases due to limited features.

There are many issues with the game and alot of unnecessary additions(ealife) but for me the gameplay is the most important but there are a couple of issues with the ai.

every straight feels like how alonso must have felt during his time with mclaren honda. as to quote alonso " gp2 engine" but only for the player. when you run tracks like bahrain its almost impossible to defend on higher difficulty but on imola i have no issue on the same difficulty due to the layout. if you check the speedtrap speeds of the ai it exceeds the real life speeds on the actual track.

on a side note the practice programs need to be rebalanced. the race simulation is ok but the quali en ers sim are too difficult on the tracks with multiple long straights.

Lovely game about building a tavern. Once you reach the 3rd floor you cant stop until you have all the achievements.

I just finished the story for the first time, It seems i was lucky without any issues or crashes at all. Overall the game was a great experience and i loved every part of the deep storytelling to the combat
