I played the demo for about six hours, game is very good! High replayability and so far it seems like it'll last you a long while if you're willing to do dungeons again on higher difficulties.

Gameplay is easy enough to understand, and it does well at introducing new concepts. If you've ever had an interest in a turn-based Battle Network game, I'd definitely look into this.

Where it *excels* is in replayability and aiming for high scores. The game ranks you based on how many turns of combat it takes to complete a dungeon, and getting a high score can reward you with better meta-progression. Then you ask yourself about how much you can get away with avoiding combat for a higher rank, since doing that makes it harder on you.

And eventually, trying to optimize your run in or out of combat turns something that felt basic into something incredibly enthralling. This is an amazing game for someone who wants to get every inch they can out of the game's systems. The scoring system turns the game from 'how do I beat this run' to pushing yourself as far as you can to get as much as possible.

It's something I haven't seen done in most other roguelikes. Though the game can get repetitive, once it clicks it makes every facet of the game engaging in a way that's very new to me.

Plot is simple but effective, the art style is solid. The crossovers and in-universe game series are interesting without getting in the way of the game as a whole.

If you're into roguelikes or MMBN, I definitely think it's worth the price!

Game is pretty solid. Not for everyone, wild and can feel like it doesn't have enough tools on defense to deal with the crazy ♥♥♥♥ everyone can pull. But it goes far enough on sale these days that it's worth picking up if you were on the fence before.

The first pass has chars coming out semiregularly, we're about halfway through. No idea if we'll get a second but I think it's worth jumping in if it looks interesting to you at this point.

I'm enjoying it a lot! In the past I was worried about tech issues/a bad port mentioned in other reviews, but I've experienced no issues at all and the game has been absolutely wonderful to me.

The gameplay is really solid in my experience, individual turns aren't ultra complicated but it has unique mechanics that add a solid amount of engagement to the battles overall.

After about ~8 hours I can say the game is more narrative-focused than others in its genre but does it really well so far and makes you interested in figuring it out more. It's brimming with personality and stands out in a great way.

It's anime-ish enough in that some aspects lean lightly sexual, but it's *usually* kept tame enough that it adds to the game's tone and aesthetic in a way that's interesting and adds to it moreso than detracts from it. There may be suggestive scenes but so far they don't seem to be significantly sexual. The main exception is an overly-sexualized minigame that was removed from this version - there's ways to re-enable it but I would honestly recommend pretending it doesn't exist. Treating it as a fanservice game honestly downplays a lot of what this has to offer.

If you're interested in the genre and can tolerate some light anime weirdness, or if anything about this catches your eye in some way, this is an easy recommendation to make. Etrian Odyssey will probably always be the best entry point to the genre but this is a close second. Goes on sale for $20 or less and I can say it's easily worth at least that much.

If you're hesitant, I say jump in and give it a shot - personally, chances are you won't regret it.

Early Access Review
To clarify - the blazblue here is very minimal (Unless there's a plot twist later) and it's moreso its own game with blazblue characters cemeo-ing and being playable in some way

But as its own game I enjoy it, it's a solid action-y roguelike and if you like those or want something else to play BB chars in I think it's reasonable. The only caveat in my experience aside from being EA itself is that sometimes I'll get performance issues on my PC that make things run less smooth than it feels like they should.

It's still playable though and at least worth consideration. I would argue if you're into roguelikes, or just want something with at least a little bit of blazblue, I'd pick it up when you have money to spare and aren't busy with other games. It's very much worth the price at $20, stands among its peers in regards to fast combat roguelikes and is a solid game worth keeping an eye on.

(also when is Es getting released I WANT MY MAIN)

Refunded - spent more time wondering if I liked it than I was like, enjoying it overall.

The early gameplay feels kind of barebones, there's some unique stuff it tries but the core battles didn't mesh well with me, on top of other things like quality-of-life, exploration feels stilted in a sense.

If you super jive with the aesthetics and the like you might enjoy it, but if you're mainly interested in the gameplay you'll probably find better elsewhere. Got for $20 on sale, hoped it would be worth it but ended up feeling otherwise.

I feel like the game is alright. The core game is passable to me, a little simple so far but at least worth the $10. The main thing is that a handful of technical stuff and design things make it feel awkward to play - a lot of small things that should be automatic pop-ups aren't, and it means the amount of busywork to click on basic things is more than in other similar types of games.

The game doesn't automatically pause when you open other windows like adjusting sliders - so there's some micromanaging of the pause button stuff that could really be done more easily. The tutorial skipped how to actually sell my movies (it's the distribute button next to script writing) and it took me about 10 minutes to figure out it was missing. Unlocking a second writer/director is supposed to feel like a big push, but since they start out at a minimal level they feel kind of useless when you first get them.

I wouldn't say I've gotten to lategame yet, but while I've enjoyed what I played there are small issues in the way of the experience at the heart which is as least a solid and reasonable game.

It's not stellar, but if you're looking for 'game dev tycoon but with movies' the price of entry is low enough to pick up. If this looks like it scratches an itch you want, then go for it. If you're not dying for this kind of game - wait for sale or updates. Devs have been responding in the forums and the first update came out a day after release, so I expect the small issues to get resolution in the future. Just know at the time of release it has some kinks to work out before being as smooth as its higher-profile contemporaries.

The core game is really fun! While I'm still early in, it's executed really well and it's a lot of fun. Winning my first games on both the Sherlock and Moriarty sides were really fantastic feeling. That said, the animations/dialogue mid-match can take a bit of time, and outside of PvP the content is kind of sparse.

I hope it gets updated with more content and stuff to do, but as it stands if you're a fan of Mystery-style games and the concept appeals to you, the $20 is a fair price of entry. While I don't know for sure how the playerbase will look a few months down the road, I absolutely hope the game can thrive. Recommended!

The game itself is fantastic. A lot of it feels fairly polished, and you're getting two games in one - the price might be a bit of a high barrier to entry, but I'd definitely say if you're a fan of dungeon-crawler RPGs like EO, this is definitely something you can have a good time with.

However, be aware of some tech issues! There've been reports of issues with the port but some of them have been very inconsistent - some bugs I've heard mentioned I haven't run into at all, and one that I ran into myself seems to be inconsistent.

If you're using controller, there's a bug with the game's native support that might lead to a softlock on text input - set up steam's own controller support instead as a way around that. I haven't run into the issue since I set it up myself, though it was super frustrating before I figured that out.

We're still waiting on patches to resolve some of the issues people are running into. But if you're a fan of the genre and have the money, or if down the line there's a super good sale you don't mind trying as a newcomer, I would recommend picking it up. Just keep refunds in mind in case you run into a bug that's too rough on your experience or that you can't find a workable solution to.

I hope you enjoy the game!

I think the game is good! <3 Style is great but you already knew that

There are definitely a few faults in the game and some quirky mechanical choices - some of them I still think could use some work, but other things I ended up warming up to or didn't feel as though they were as big an issue as I first thought

It good enough to make you care about where the faults lie - it's harder to get to grips with how the game plays than something like Slay The Spire, but once you get a feel for it it's something solid in it's own right. It's much more a resource management game than you would expect from a traditional deckbuilder, and while that isn't a bad thing if you go in expecting something else you'll tend to feel like you aren't doing very well or your cards aren't impactful enough.

It's cheap enough that I would say to pick it up. Devs are listening for feedback and the core of this game is incredibly good. It has some ironing out to do, but it has my support. <3
