Early Access Review
Is there an option to revert to A16 because this A17 is hot garbage.
Still no occlusion system so the sun shines in closed off basements and the lighting system is so bad unless you have 10 torches in a 10sq ft area you won't see past the end of your nose on default settings.
Silient zombies/vultures that don't make an absolute peep until they're already hitting you.
If you die in game just start a new save because your character is essentially always hardcore mode with the dumbest debuff ever.
And that's if you don't die again immediately to the bleeding effect that stays on you.
Which brings me to the bugs.
How did this make it to live/stable with this many game breaking bugs? A few bugs are fine, loads of game breaking ones are not.
Did the devs never once load up RWG or die one time whilst playtesting this?

Furthermore they reworked some of the best aspects of the game entirely.
The old quality system was epic and I loved it, mix 'n matching gun parts to get better guns and having real incentive to repair your gear was far better than not having durability matter at all.
The new gameplay would be epic, I love the stealth system but for three glaring issues.
The first is if you're crouched and walking around even on a flat surface your character sometimes does a little jump which makes a lot of noise.
The second that if you hold a torch in a closed room zombies can see the light through walls and find you because of it.
And third is that because sleeper zombies do not make any sound until they get hit or hit you they can wake up and sneak right up behind you and scare the absolute bejesus out of you whilst you get no warning of their presence.
Made 20x worse because you can clear out a room and turn to leave it then have one of these sleepers fall through the ceiling land right behind you (again not making a single sound doing so) and then tap you on the butt possibly causing you to urinate all over yourself.

The new armor system is so bad that really you can't wear armor now.
Whether its a simple pair of gloves or a freaking santa hat just putting the item on increases your stamina usage by a significant amount, and for some reason gloves/hats give you a mobility penalty.
Made even dumber because the new item comparison system is absolute ♥♥♥♥♥.

Did I mention you can have sleeper dogs now? Yeah sleeper dogs are a thing, and they also don't make a single sound until they're biting you on the butt.

I could go on but really what's the point? They broke so much more than they fixed, and what they "fixed" is mostly just complete from the ground up re-works of existing systems within the game that worked just fine.
What company wastes over a year of development of a alpha title reworking what they've already done instead of finishing the damn game?
And why implement a brand new lighting system when the old one was A: better and B: they still haven't added occlusion so they'll have to rework this ♥♥♥♥ again anyways!?!?

I said I wasn't gonna go on then I did it anyways. Its just appaling.

I guess lastly I'll point out they also broke building, you get much less wood than before and also requires more than twice as much per wood frame (4 to 10 base now)so hah good luck building a house when an entire tree gives you only enough wood for 3 wood frames (seriously 300 hp tree gives 30 wood total without the dumb perks because they also removed the system where if you want to get better at chopping trees you'd chop trees. Now it's all just perks perks perks.)

The best game in its genre with an active modding community that isn't even required to sustain it.
The only gripe I have with this game when trying to change the controls you'll have trouble if you want to use extra mouse buttons. But they'll hopefully fix that sometime :)

Had to redo my earlier review due to it no longer being true.

The game is still good for the casual player that wants to play with a few buddies but any competitive, end-game seeking player is SOL.

End-game PVP is non-existent. PVP gear doesn't exist, none of your mods/weapons can be taken into pvp at all. So with PVP no longer an option we're left with end-game PVE. Let's talk about that.

First of all, with PVP so ♥♥♥♥, we know PVE is all the game has going for it. But is their enough unique satisfying content at the highest level to hold a competitive PVMer? Not even close.

Most if not all bosses are extremely easy after you're geared out with all primes and good mods. And the ones that require a team to fight, only do so because of some gimmicky game mechanic.

Really it can be summed up in one question. Have you played the game for a few hours? Well then you're pretty much already out of unique content.
Of course there is unique content, just not nearly enough of it. It's all, go here kill these, go here survive for x amount of rounds, go here and capture this guy.
Over and over and over again the same ♥♥♥♥ different day gameplay. It's fun for awhile until you see behind the veil. That in reality you're just grinding for nothing.

In other MMo's you're grinding for a goal, not JUST to get another prime part. There's more than the grind, when the grind ends you move to the next thing. Whether you like PVP or PVM is your thing, just know you'll find neither with this game that will satisfy none but the casual Saturday with friends.
