An enjoyable JRPG if you're a fan of SMT/Persona games especially. The story/characters aren't without its flaws, but still one of the better JRPGs to come out recently.

I had picked this game up on a whim on a recommendation from a friend of mine, and boy am I glad that I did. It has surprisingly fun and deep gameplay and an equally engaging story. To parrot others, you can definitely feel out in playing through this game that this is a work of passion. There is a sort of 'soul' in this game that you can only find in games created by a small studio or single independent developer. If you're a fan of JRPGs and Metroidvania's don't sleep on this one.

It's more than a game, it's an experience.

The Story follows a detective who picks himself off the floor of his trashed hostel room as he tries to piece together where he is, who he is, and why he's there. While a somewhat implausible circumstance, It makes for a plethora of interesting interactions and dialogue. It opens up one of the more interesting mechanics I've run into in an RPG setting, where your conversations are literally molded by your characters thoughts which you run into and store in your "Thought Cabinet", some of which lead to some amusing situations and dialogue.

While being an RPG, the gameplay is mostly a point-click adventure on an isometric map. You explore a little slice of the world, picking up clues to the mystery you're supposed to solve, and your identity. Lots of little hidden interactions, and clever implementations of items. The experience you gain can be used to entertain thoughts, or increase skills that allow you to make skill checks. However, one thing you'll find out is that unlike many games where there is a focus on passing every check, some checks can actually reward you in a way for failing, if not provide you with some entertaining and hilarious dialogue and events. Some checks will affect your characters health and mental pool so that is one thing you'll have to manage.

Anyway, the game is pretty great.

P.S. Buy your drugs from Cuno. Support the local economy.
