Early Access Review
Edit 2025 - Pet trading update is honestly more than fair and other means of obtaining the previously broken benefits have also been added. Overall happy with the changes that have been made and feel it is fair again to recommend new players to try the game!

Worth playing for a while, if you like other idle games especially. Maybe avoid afterlife for a while until your progress gets too slow for your liking and only then give it a go as it will progress you through the entirety of the game very quickly.

This game is an incredibly fun take on a platforming/racing BR. You should go in hoping to have a good time not to rack up an impressive win streak. You aren't working with a limited pool of resources to put yourself on top, rather you wrangle around the map along with 59 other jellybeans hoping not to fall from yourself or from one another.

The launch day servers did have some downtime and disconnecting, but not for the first few hours. No problems started until a few hours later once there were too many players for the servers to handle. Much bigger titles experience severely worse server troubles in their first few days. Further, besides a couple connection problems on the server end the game has been almost entirely bug-free.

While many players currently take issue with some of the maps/modes, we've already seen a few small changes since the beta to the current map pool, and have been told that further maps, modes, and features are to come in the future. If you can only spend a few bucks on games a month, wait until this game has just a bit more to offer, but it shouldn't have any problem getting to that point now that they've launched, especially so successfully.

Fall Guys does feature micro-transactions, however it may be the most player friendly take I have ever seen. Everything is entirely cosmetic, the currency can be earned quickly by just playing the game, and the rarest rewards come from a separate currency you earn by winning. There are a few set cosmetics offered outside this system through DLC but again, entirely cosmetic.

Overall, Fall Guys is a refreshing take on the BR model that improves on many qualities other games have had issues with. If you enjoy Mario Party style minigames, platforming/racing games, or a casual challenge with friends, you will have a great time.

Cube World at it's (current) core is only fun for the first loop or so of gameplay until you realize that there is no progression outside of each region's boundaries. Many RPGs rely on XP, gear, skill trees, or an overarching story to bring a reason to continue playing within the same boundaries of the engine once you've learned the basics. Cube World starts you with all of your abilities, no form of XP, story, or skill tree to progress your character (which means that simply running from most enemies is the preferred method between POIs) and encourages you to collect gear for your sense of progression.

Gear isn't that simple however, when you step out of the boundaries from which the gear was dropped, its stats are reverted to that of a basic piece of gear with little to no stat value. ("+" gear is available to allow gear to work within any connected region, though this is a temporary solution to a bigger problem and is rarely dropped anyways.)

Artifacts are a mechanic meant to be the treasure found within a kingdom (a selection of connected regions though they are not visibly represented on the map) that provide bonuses for the player. If these artifacts brought combat progression for the player it may be enough to keep players interested in fighting extra enemies or at least the ones required for map POIs. Instead they provide meaningless bonuses like +.3 lamp radius which is a third of a single voxel within the world, barely noticeable and even still are only able to function within the boundaries of the kingdom from which they were found.

It is likely that your first artifact will come 6-8 hours into gameplay and it is likely that after this first loop you will speed up significantly towards finding more artifacts, however this is due to a deeper understanding of the game's mechanics not because any progression was made and further artifacts will take around the same amount of time depending on biome and how quickly you find the movement items that are randomly placed within a region to find.

Through 6 years of development and randomly posted screenshots on Wollay's Twitter, this game clearly hasn't been in development for 6 years. There are countless bugs as the player character interacts with the world with movement options or attempting to use the found items to unlock hidden loot and equipment. Wollay's vision for this game may still be the same as he's always hoped for, but most of the content shown so far either isn't in the game or maybe never existed at all.

With code from the alpha still in the game for XP and the old skill tree it is possible that the community will further develop support for the game that they envisioned all this time. Modding will likely bring more content and further system development that will unlock this game's full potential that we all hoped one man and his wife could bring.

This game has brought me many hours of enjoyment in a way I would have never played/experienced otherwise. Best of luck Wollay/Pixxie in everything you do and thanks for bringing your vision to life, even if it's not what we expected (or deserved.)

Great tool for beautiful wallpapers, just be weary of high CPU and/or RAM usage. Workshop content from users is essential for finding wallpapers to use; can be difficult to find wallpapers that you enjoy if you aren't into things like anime or prefer simplistic design.

One of the only console to PC ports that was worth waiting for this year. No massive PC sided issues that I can remember in the hours it took me to beat the main story, Definitly plan to come back to this one in the future.

I don't write many reviews... Most games just don't deserve them these days. I've sunk 9 hours into this game today, and plan on sinking ATLEAST the same ammount every day for the forseen future. I don't normally play RPG style farming games, mostly FPS in the recent months, and this game has turned my eyes to a new light of gaming. Stardew Valley is much more innovative and intuitive than other games in its genre, and I hope that the dev team continues to work on this game in their best efforts so that everyone can experience the 4 player co-op sometime this year. (My original plans were to wait until the multiplayer came out to give it a try, but I didn't have anything else to do... Man was I happy I tried this game early!) Everyone... Even if you don't normally play this kind of a game... PLEASE give it a chance! I'm sure you wont be dissapointed!

Pros:
Time continues while indoors.
Amazing art style alongside an astounding soundtrack.
Hours upon Hours of content and replayability.
(4 player co-op? Soon? C'mon guys you've got this!)

Cons:
To be honest... I really can't think of any!
I haven't run into any bugs AT ALL. This game is very well polished, and is defentally worth the price they're asking!
The ONLY issue I've encountered, was that a friend of mine lost his tools and had to start a new character/world by putting his stuff in a chest that he placed in the mines... Within an hour of him saying something to the developers on Twitter, there was already a patch out to fix his problem, and the problems of many others. Keep it up Stardew Valley Team! You're a keeper!
