This game is a lot like stockhome syndrome.

No matter how many times you keep dying, no matter how many times you want to cry, or scream, or rage and break something, you always come back. Because, when you finally beat that boss, your victory will be all the sweeter.

Hats. Memes. Machines. Content. My grandmother used to tell me stories about the old days, a time of peace when Valve kept balance between the Hat Tribes, Meme Kingdom, Machine Nation, and Content Nomads. But that all changed when the Machine Nation attacked. Only Valve mastered all four elements. Only they could stop the ruthless aimbots. But when the world needed the developers most, they vanished. A hundred years have passed and the Machine Nation is nearing victory in the War. Two years ago, my father and the men of my tribe journeyed to the Meme Kingdom to help fight against the Machine Nation, leaving me and my brother to look after our tribe. Some people believe that Valve was never reborn into the Content Nomads, and that the cycle is broken. But I haven't lost hope. I still believe that somehow, the developers will return to save the world.

Edit: Machine Nation destroyed. I never gave up hope. We'll see how long this lasts but rn tf2 is fun again.
