very good game kinda studded sometimes but a great game with high details and very good story line i was like glued to the game for months.

Game is amazing. Nearly 1k hours at the time of review, haven't regret a single second of it purely on gameplay.
Community is horrendous, petty, vile, hypocritical, toxic and has made me want to quit more times than I can count.


TL;DR- look above. Gameplay is addicting, fun, and provides endless replayability. Community has got to be one of the most deeply corrupt and horrible I've ever seen in any videogame, except maybe EvE.

This is more of a review of the community, specifically in the Oceania region. You can go to another review if you want one detailing the intricacies of the gameplay. I'll keep it short here- The gameplay is amazing. I recommend it ONLY for the gameplay. If you live in the OCE region and want a healthy or welcoming community to take part in, PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE.

Do note, however, from the steam description:
"and fight in brutal battles where you will experience fast paced combat, castle sieges, cavalry charges, and more."
This is false advertising. Battles are chaotic, I guess? Combat isn't fast paced at all, it's just slow and all about mind-games. There are no cavalry charges or castle sieges unless you make a private server and specifically organize an event where everyone follows a certain script, and the community isn't healthy enough to do that.

Even the most basic private servers, "Duel Servers", where players can go into a deathmatch lobby to 1v1 are rife with people who can and will interrupt you and get away with it, abusive childish and immature staff members who refuse to do anything but play the game and punish people breaking the rules right in their faces, (not to mention the nepotism and favoritism problems).

There are player made groups, clanners, etc. They will expressly go out of their way to kick you out of the game or make up heinous lies about you in order to get you kicked from the game, and are buddy-buddy with the game mods so this sort of thing never goes away. The in-game mods of Triternion in particular are especially problematic, often times banning users from even playing the game just for a little bit of rude language- And there's a profanity filter you can turn off. I'll repeat that: Using profanity can get you banned from playing the game for any length of time, however, people that don't want to see profanity have a filter for it. Strange, isn't it?

There's also a prevailing culture of weapon gatekeeping. If you like a certain weapon that's not in the meta for it's unique playstyle and you're good with it, people will flame you endlessly. It's a normalized concept in the community that you're allowed to harass, insult, belittle and in some extreme cases, gatekeep via votekick spam anyone who chooses to use one of the following weapons:
- Any bow, any throwable, short spear, any shield, rapier, smoke bomb, fire bomb, toolbox, falchion, arming sword, quarterstaff, dagger.
Not a very long list, but the fact that it exists at all is detestable. If you find yourself liking anything here and want to use it outside of Horde, Frontline or Invasion, good luck!

Duel servers.
On paper, these should be great. An opportunity for one on one fights, community ran and community moderated. Unfortunately, there are a large amount of griefers. The mods on these servers are people too, and not every single FFAer can get kicked / banned off these 'honorable' servers.
However, that's all it is on paper. On OCE, you have a selection of three main-stay duel servers:
[Zion]; A bunch of pretentious, holier-than-thou entitled brats. These are the sorts of people who will passive agressively talk down to you and bait you into giving them a bad reaction, or act nice in chat and be extremely annoying in game. Impressions on their behaviour aside... If you're the unfortunate target of a griefer, when in Zion, if you're not part of the moderator's clique you absolutely must not fight back or you run a high risk of getting banned for griefing. Crazy, I know, defending yourself from someone who broke the rules and randomly attacked you, and -you're- the one getting banned for randomly attacking people?
God forbid one of the moderators are having a bad day, though, or they'll grief you themselves to let off some steam. Or someone from their clique will start griefing you and get away with it because they're just buddies goofing off lol! no harm no foul right guyz!?!
[Lemon's Duels] Second most popular duel server, moderated by different people but still in the same clique as Zion. Things are less chaotic here, unless the server owner's son is on, in which case he gets to grief the entire server as much as he wants and if anyone complains his daddy is gonna come waltzing on down to set them straight for upsetting his precious little boy.
[Duke of York] Politically crazed SJWs. I'm apolitical and they banned me for calling them communists because they had the hammer and sickle as their server icon. They also effectively killed one of the most popular modded servers- It was having a bad time with updates and modding support, and this larger community disconnected from OCE Mordhau showed up and took over, enforcing a LITERAL 84 PAGE PDF OF RULES that nobody in their right mind could be bothered to read or follow, and then boom, no more fun modded activity for OCE. The peak for that server was about 8 players, whereas the old was at 20-30 daily.

Other than those big names, the community is semi-openly racist, sexist, misogynistic and has a penchant for disturbing or disgusting jokes. I wouldn't consider myself thin skinned in any capacity, I can enjoy some good bants here and there, but the toxicity is so bad in this dreg heap that it would be considered a war crime to let it spill anywhere outside of the containment field that is OCE Mordhau.
And no, I'm not grouping jokes in with the first few things. Jokes are fine, jokes are funny. These are actual self-admitted bigots- but of course, only the ones that annoy the GM clique get any sort of punishment, and if you annoy the GM clique while staying within the rules... Good luck getting a refund, I suppose, because they'll just brick your access to the online side of the game, community servers AND official servers. It's happened to at least three people I used to play with.

If your region has a better community, PLEASE let me know so I can go for a holiday around there sometime and experience what it has to offer, if even for a little bit.
