Early Access Review
Really good atmosphere and design in some levels, but it's overshadowed by how difficult it is to find a map. It feels rewarding to figure out where you are on a map that doesn't give you your position, but I only found a map on the first level one time I played it. I ran in circles countless times in the first three levels, and it was much more frustrating than it was fun.

I thought I'd have a break once I got to the fourth level and the atmosphere completely changed. It seemed like things were looking up. I found some cool gear, made my way through... until a giant monster came out of nowhere. This monster is strong, fast, tough, and stun locks you. It would be okay if it was slow and you just had to run, but there is no running away from it. This made me incredibly frustrated, as there was no stealth, fighting, or running I could do to get past this enemy. It saw me before I could see it, and by then it was too late.

In addition, the combat feels very clunky sometimes. I understand how it works, but it seems like my character doesn't swing fully half the time, not to mention the double attack seeming super inconsistent. Something else needed is a heads up that picking the villager to start with means you can't use magic at all. I got a lot of the ways through the game thinking my magic system was just bugged, and now I can never have access to a large part of the game.

The atmosphere, armor, and weapon systems are great. It's just overshadowed by the frustration that the maze-like levels, inconsistent combat, and unfair enemies cause.

My secret word happened to be Greed.

I really enjoy games that make you think about yourself like this. There's nothing more interesting than looking into yourself and seeing what your true nature is. Plus, it's got the spooky, mysterious atmosphere I love. Well worth the $2.

Crazy? I was crazy once. They locked me in a server. A valve server. A valve server with bots. And bots make me crazy.
