Skyreach is certainly an innovative "racing" game. Though racing doesn't quite describe this one. It's more of a puzzle game than anything. Here's why.

You're driving this lone vehicle out in this long desolate wasteland. The gimmick to Skyreach is that you'll have to build a road as you go through the level, which in theory sounds good. But the complete lack of direction in the levels and the horrendous controls will just show you how poorly executed it is overall.

As of this review, this has mostly negative reviews. There's a reason for that. Avoid this,

DIVE: Starpath is a short indie game where you're flying around in various sections of space around increasingly more hazardous environments as you avoid debris and collect some data, all while keeping your fuel reserves in check.

It's free and functional, for the most part, and as far as free games on Steam go, this type of game is certainly not common. However, an uninspired story and the annoying gameplay found in the later levels with the exaggerated hitbox along with the lack of fluidity in movement on the player's side may make this game more frustrating than it needed to be. If you can weather that, I'd say give it a shot. But you can skip this.

Unintuitive and pretentious.

The NADI Project is a "puzzle" walking simulator in which you play as a wealthy englishman who must find his way back into civilization on this deserted island that has a story to tell.

Now that story could have been interesting and may have had some potential, but the nonsensical way in which you pick up rubies of all things to trigger flashbacks that tell the story are in such a clunky and random manner that any interesting storytelling that could have existed really becomes a drag to get through. The actual puzzle solving is as if you were tracking down the collectibles of a better game: Explore everything and you'll find these hidden items, that if combined in some way, will then provide the means to progress. No hints or anything. Just go have "fun".

There were some errors in dialogue and mistranslation. Nothing too spectacular except "Darn my hands!" after getting your hands burned from trying to open a valve, which is quite the comedic gold catchphrase.

If this game had stripped the puzzles and gone the Dear Esther route while polishing the story's presentation, especially in the amateurish flashbacks, it could have been something good. As it stands however, just avoid this one.

Surprisingly original and meta.

If you're playing a Visual Novel and looking for 100% completion, you'll likely have to play through the story several times or load on certain points to pick other options that you had ignored the first time around in order to see every branching path there is. Some VNs may even have a hidden path, or true ending, for those who've seen it all beforehand.

Usually however, the game never really directly acknowledges the player's actions as he's doing all this though. Some may reference what you did at the very ending, but certainly not during the process. Except for Once on a windswept night.

This VN by ebi-hime (Sad Story of Emmeline Burns) is yet another well written and intelligent tale within an existential tale, and one definitely worth your time.

Simple and quality stuff for less than an hour.

Dawn is a nice looking free platformer with its own quirky world and sense of humor. You're a creature tasked with bringing this massive tree at the end of the game back to life. It's not difficult at all, there are no enemies to speak of and the platforming is very easy as well. It's just a pleasant soothing little game that lets you relax and jump around every now and then. The fact that it's free, short, and very playable makes it a no brainer to at least try it out.

It offers a few extra incentives for replayability such as collectibles and a speedrun challenge. It won't bring you anything new, but it won't annoy you either.

Definitely worth a look.

Hilariously disastrous.

Once upon a time has some alright ideas as a concept. The execution though, is really not there at all.

The puzzles shown in this short introduction to a larger project are actually quite inventive, but the controls and UI just destroy any shred of enjoyment you may have out of figuring these out. If the gameplay isn't at the very least competent, you can't expect people to want to take their time seeing what the game has to offer.

If those get fixed, this might be worth looking into in the future. But as it is, it's not worth your time.

A tale of adversity and refusal against one's fate.

Bad Day is an epic adventure that champions the cause of all outcasts in the world. But we'll start with this one. Enter Jimmy, a rejected pube-wearing Dorito lookalike. He's a talkative fella but alas, he hit his head falling down and didn't have the best education growing up. But none of that matters because who cares about story, we have to talk about the earth-shattering gameplay!

Defy Jimmy's fate and impending doom by running across this one treadmill endlessly as infinite copies of random trash try to put an end to him. He's right there with you, shouting words of encouragement in the only way he knows how!

Some skeptics amongst you may ask why doesn't poor ol' Jimmy just jump sideways to the floor, but please don't torment the poor soul with logical questions! He's just having a bad day.

Do not be fooled however by the fake news propaganda claiming that multiple Jimmys are around and a new one comes up each time you fail the game. There is only one Jimmy. I've saved him. There is no need for you to install and play this, as those Jimmys are mindless, soulless husks. You may rest easy friend. We've won.

Let this Bad Day remain just that. Something to be forgotten.

Nothing remarkable.

Garden of Oblivion is a short point & click adventure with a few puzzles thrown in. While it seemed to have an interesting idea going with its story, it ultimately failed to engage me, as far as execution goes. It has some slight horror elements, though the jumpscares really didn't get to me. I already forgot most of what happens in it.

It doesn't take too long to finish, but there are free games on Steam that do pretty much everything that Garden of Oblivion does but better. Play those instead and avoid this one.

Like something out of a fairy tale.

Cinderella Phenomenon puts a lot of free games on Steam to shame with its quality. It is a very well made Visual Novel and I'd recommend it to anyone, even for those who normally don't care for these.

You play as Lucette, the crown princess of the kingdom of Angielle. While condescending and cold at the beginning, you'll eventually realize there's a lot more than meets the eye with the Ice Princess and her struggle against the Fairytale Curse.

Indeed, fairy tales are very much this game's theme. And it's not just because it mentions them several times as you're playing through the game. The tone, the soundtrack, the good writing, everything helps in making you feel like you're in a classic fairy tale or Disney movie (think Cinderella, Little Mermaid, Snow White and so on), minus the anime graphical style, which I can tell is very much what the writers intended.

However, this may be Cinderella Phenomenon's biggest flaw. If you're looking for fun and unexpected twists, you won't find them here as all the fairy tale clichés are going to show up. Now, I'm not saying there aren't secrets to find out here. Indeed, besides the normal story that plays out in each of Lucette's 5 possible routes, there's a bigger, hidden overarching story that's only revealed one you play every route and piece it all together yourself. And that was something that I ended up doing. Usually, Visual Novels only hold my attention during the first playthrough, where afterwards I just skip the dialogue during subsequent playthroughs if needed. But Cinderella Phenomenon's writing was engaging and good enough to make me see it all through to the end. Which is something I don't say often. Give it a try if this interests you.

Well done Dicesuki, you've got a gem here.

Minimalist and a bit challenging.

The End o,,o is a short and old school side scroller about a sad demon who just wants to get home. The really slow framerate is intentional, and adds to the challenge, since you'll have to plan your shots accordingly with the input lag you're getting. The ending was cryptic and seemingly setting up for a sequel.

An interesting enough game that didn't overstay its welcome.
