VF5 R.E.V.O. is a great update (for the most part) of a great fighter. 3D fighters in general have always been my favorites and VF5 has never looked and played this well.

Unfortunately there is nothing for single player modes here other than your standard arcade & Training Mode . This is the aspect that hurts the most as I feel like the devs could add a few different options without too much effort to have SOMETHING other than Arcade and training, but alas nothing.

Online works very well with the exception of someone losing frames, then the online just breaks. Although I have not experienced this since release (played a small handful of online), I did during the BETA.

That being said what is here is an otherwise great port of VF5 with a new facelift to make it look better than ever. I'll likely be playing this throughout the next few years in anticipation of VF6.

The tekken series in general I've always felt have been the best fighting games for me personally. The ebb and flow feels fluid compared to 2D fighters and Tekken 8 is no exception.

As a whole for the fighting mechanics I really do feel like Tekken is an easy to learn / hard to master game that really rewards you for putting time into it. Combos are super fun to do once you get the hang of it and much less tight for timings compared to street fighter making it so you're actually able to improvise with combos depending on situations. Practice mode is fantastic and the new replay feature letting you take over mid replay for 10 seconds has been invaluable in learning proper punishes and why my combo may have dropped where it did. I use this feature all the time and recommend anyone who wants to get better to engage with it as no other fighter has this interactivity in its replays.

T8's story is also super hype and some of the most fun I've had with a story mode. I will say its probably not the best place to start as a beginner as with T7's campaign , I feel like once you're good at the game these modes become super epic and much more enjoyable. With that in mind T8 introduces Arcade Quest thats very much made for beginners as mechanics are explained very well and drip fed to the player in a good way. Arcade mode's story is very subpar, I feel like all of the fun story beats are in the main story and character episodes.

The game is expensive, yes , so if you're not all in I would at least wait for a sale. I feel like sales will come often enough for T8 given we already had a couple. Micro transactions suck, but at least for the most part its all cosmetic with the exception DLC characters which so far have been great.

In conclusion Tekken 8 is a great fighter that I will be playing for many years to come. Awesome story, great graphics, super fun deep and engaging gameplay that rewards you for putting time into it. Whats not to love?

EU4 is a great game that's hard to recommend. Between the insane learning curve, and all of the DLC which many are essential for the up to date version of the game to be playable its a tough sell. That being said its the deepest grand strategy game I've played by far.

First, what could the game improve upon? The mana system (monarch points) is by far its weakest aspect and unfortunately tied to many aspects, such as development, technology, and many other aspects. You will need to learn it in order to master the game and learn to use it efficiently. I feel like imperator rome's / victoria series population system would fit much better in this as it encourages a tall gameplay style. While playing tall has been improved upon, playing wide is almost always a better option, hence why many call EU4 a map painter game.

Second, the trade system should be dynamic. The fact that the trade mapmode is static and trade flows don't change during the entire game sessions is silly and is not realistic at all. I do like how trade works, if it changed back and forth given demand I feel like it would be perfect but what we have is honestly pretty good minus it not changing over time.

Now for the good, diplomacy is amazing. I've never played a game where the diplomacy works this well. The wars you sometimes end up fighting due all of the diplomatic ties that everyone has can make the game very interesting and honestly drives a lot of what you end up doing. Allies, rivals and their interactions are fantastic. The sheer amount of options you have when interacting with another country is insane and no other game matches this complexity and interactivity.

Warfare is also quite fun as the game is in real-time. This gives the timing of where armies go much more importance and micro-ing said armies to do quick hit and runs off of your enemies smaller stacks. Taking down forts, fortifying your own provinces and fighting through them are quite enjoyable. The actual tactics once the armies clash leaves something to be desired as its all pre-determined before the fight starts and oftentimes can end up being whomever has the biggest army wins (though not always). Peace deals are also done the better than all of the other paradox games with a warscore system that go up and down based on your performance in the war along with what the actual stated wargoal is. My only wish was that there could be a plus and minus to the peace (as in I give you a province, but I'll take this province) etc. Otherwise its done very well. Aggressive expansion is a great mechanic that slows down the player mainly, I wish AI would sometimes risk it and have high AE as well. I have never been able to be in a coalition against an AI, ever.

Multiplayer is also a great aspect that cannot be understated. You can even have friends join in your singleplayer sessions (assuming they aren't ironman) play as a nation for a bit and then keep playing afterwards. This is amazing and I wish more games did this. Ironman is fun, but the removal of the multiplayer aspect definitely steers me away from this mode which is unfortunate as its what you'll need to play to get achievements.

There's much much more that I haven't covered but in all I can recommend EU4 but be warned of the DLC high pricetag, get the DLC on sale and absolutely buy the base game on sale. If you have friends that play, only the host needs the DLC, which is something to keep in mind.

Good time

Edit 2022

At some point they made shields suck and it kind of ruined the game for people who were not very good . You can still use shields but it takes so long to bring it up and it can easily be broken that it makes it just not worth it anymore, so its all a 2Hander brawl now. I understand that shields were maybe too OP but there's a reason why historically almost every solider used one until the gunpower age.
