I play using a controller (Yes, even a controller is great. A wheel isn't necessary) and let me tell you, this is by far the most fun I've had in any game.

One of the most memorable games I’ve ever played. Personally, to this date, still one of my top favourite games of all time. Played through the story nearly 4 times now and it still doesn’t get old! I still find new ways to surprise my self in Subnautica—fantastic game!
