Short but entertaining puzzle game that became a classic. Worth a few bucks and something you should've played.

Black Mesa is a neigh perfect remake. It captures what made the original a landmark in PC gaming and adds some extra spices to the sauce to make it even better. Everybody should absolutely play this game. You genuinly get the feeling you are living through an adventure. A feeling that you don't even find in gaming today. I found myself often shouting OH ♥♥♥♥ and actually ducking behind the screen and such.

For me, the big difference between Half Life and everything else is the level design. It's a perfect balance of telling a story, parcours, shooting, adventure.... everything that a FPS could need.

If you never played Half Life, you have no more excuses. If you have, get Black Mesa anyway as you will discover all over again why we all loved Half Life.

I've read through some of the negative reviews and the only thing I agree with is that Xen levels could have maybe been slightly shorter. Especially the interloper chapter contains maybe one or two puzzles too many; but for me, it made the sense of accimplishment of reaching the Nihilanth only greater.

Simply the ultimate 'farming simulator'.

There's a lot of things to do for min-max players. Figuring out what crops to plant, investing in sprinklers, kegs or jars, etc, etc., but at the same time there's a lot of other interesting stuff to do (while you wait for the crops to grow). Making friends, exploring caves, fulfilling requests, fishing ... just so much fun stuff to do.

This is the first (and only) game I played to 100%.

I absolutely enjoyed this game a lot. I finished it in 35 hours and enjoyed all the time spent. There's plenty of different stuff to do, but you really don't need to do any kind of grinding if you don't want to (except perhaps some of the hunting, but it's not a pain to do anyway).
It's not revolutionary anymore, but the game delivers what you'd expect. I love that you can go all ninja with the bow and throwing knives, but you can just as well pick up the LMG and a grenade launcher and blow stuff up. Can't think of any better open world game (except perhaps Far Cry 5 ;) ).

I had no problems with paying for unlockables or anything, some things I didn't like:

- I would've loved a bit more choices. You get to choose about 4 or 5 times during the storyline, I doesn't always matter (actually it only matters 2 times) and I would have liked more choices (like 5-6 diffferent outcomes) and more times to choose that matter.

- There was a lot of hassle in the beginning, after seeing the 10 minute intro cut scene I wanted to adjust mouse sensitivity. I had to edit the config file for that, and then I also had to add launch parameters to skip the brands in the beginning. Then I had to watch the cut scene that I'd already seen AGAIN ... The good thing is the dishes got done but djeez, if I've seen it once, at least allow me to option to skip at that point.

All in all, if you want to play an fps with a story in an open world that still looks very nice ... go for it!

Obviously the theme of this game is fantastic. It's a homage to all the old action movies. It kind of plays like them too, because there's a lot of explosions ... but there's a lot of more difficult parts where you have to stop and think for a second instead of just plowing forward.

I really like the balance in this great platformer. I finished it in 7 hours on normal, and I'm looking forward to trying it again with friends and/or on a higher difficulty.

Great concept, great execution. It's really easy to get started, and you instantly get better at it. It has just the right amount of challenge and introduces new puzzles at the right time.
I'm pretty sure it's great to play with just about anyone, even non-gamers.

Absolutely love this series. I especially like they don't start over for every campaign but build upon the last one and keep improving and improving it. This time, the hacking has improved tremendously

The turnbased combat is my favourite kind of combat. Think X-Com and Jagged Alliance. However the game isn't just combat. It's a full-blood RPG, with tons of story, dialogue and a lot of different ways of getting to the end of your quest. I also really like the Shadowrun steampunk world. I'm so tired of the standard fantasy setting in so many RPG's, so I really love the RPG. Even though I'm an asia freak I think the german theme in Dragonfall might have been just a tad more to my liking.

It's not for everyone though, you have to enjoy reading and getting into the story... but if you like story and turn based combat you really can't go wrong for the amount of money it costs.

Absolutely loved this game! It's a TRPG: tactical role playing game. This game has a great story, which does require some reading. It combines just the right amount of reading with great tactical combat (think X-Com or Jagged Alliance even). I absolutely love this combination and sadly there aren't that many games of this type.

Lots of choices on how to tackle quests (sometimes out of the box thinking gets you somewhere)
Immersive story
Tactical combat with lots of choice (guns, magic, melee, ...)
Cool squadmates with interesting personalities

Finished the game in 32 hours ... for 5 euro that's a bargain!

Wow ... just finished it and I am speechless. Absolutely fantastic game. The story has great pace, unpredictable, did not expect the end. The action is fantastic as well. Some slower bits with some action packed scenes as well. Had to remember to start breathing again after some parts. If you're tired of all the 'assembly line' FPS shooters .. this one is definitly for you.

9,5/10
