“When his company advanced over a slope to fire, Acting-Sergeant Wilzer noticed a group of enemy infantry on the flank preparing to volley into them. Wilzer rushed forward with his rifle as a club and threw himself in front of their fire to disrupt them. Not a single shot from their volley landed into Wilzer's company, with Wilzer unscathed after the matter even through striking down one opponent with his rifle butt. Later in the battle, Wilzer saved his officer's life by alerting him of a straggler among a group of routed enemy infantry. The straggler turned out to be the officer of the broken enemy line, whom rushed towards Wilzer's officer before being shot down by Wilzer himself. November 20, 2018.” - London Gazette (LIR)
