This was a really good game when it first came out, and the original game was terrible in comparison to the game as it stands today. Overkill was really good about updating and changing the game, the current product is entirely different than the 1.0 version, for the better, too.

However, as time has gone on, they began releasing a lot of DLC, which wasn't really all that bad, but there were large ammounts of it. All good stuff, especially considering the ammount of free content they gave out. I could overlook all the DLC, even when it looked like the game was selling out with product placement tie-ins.

I was never really upset, because of the way they treated the community, I really liked overkill and I really liked payday. But with their most recent update they started including microtransactions in the game. Now, normally microtransactions are not a bad thing in freemium games, but we had to pay for payday, and we paid for the DLC, why should we keep paying to get weapon skins after we've paid for the game and its dlc? It's a selfish business practice that's signature of a game company that doesn't care about its playerbase, which is something I thought Overkill wasn't.

More importantly, when the game was first released, Overkill were very adamant that they would never do such a thing, claiming, and I quote; "We've made it clear that PAYDAY 2 will have no micro-transactions whatsoever (shame on you if you thought otherwise!)"

I'm less upset about the fact the game has microtransactions (I can ignore those) and more upset about the fact they promised they never would, only to fall back on their word.

It's such a good game, but I feel like it's been ruined by cash-grabbing and betrayal on behalf of the studio (which is ironic, as cash-grabbing is the name of the game). I hope Overkill does get their payday, because they wont be getting it from me.
