Solid, if still in the process, Wuxia Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley like RPG. Worth it to try!

Well worth the money, plenty of replay-ability within it.

I love Giant Robots, you love giant Robots, everyone loves giant robots. As a long time fan of the various tabletop RPG settings that were born of FASA back in the 1990s, I was super excited when I saw that a traditional style battletech game was slated to come out. I preordered it and while I had some issues with it initially when it came to graphics running (my laptop is a PoS), it was well worth the purchase.

Seize your destiny, young mechwarrior!

I give Tropico 5 4.5 pairs of fancy El Presidente Brand Sunglasses out of 5. The other one got broke when El Presidente single handedly broke the noses of the Premier of the USSR and President of the USA with a swing of his beard.

Seriously, this game gets a 4.5 out of 5. Another of the great series of city-building dictator sims that made me fall in love with city-building sims again in the first place and have a personality that makes it so few people can turn away after beginning to play with them, it delivers much of what it promises, but there's tarantulas in those crates of bananas.

The first and foremost is that the voice acting has degraded, and things are less funny, than its predecessor Tropico 4. The storyline shares some mirrors to that game, ultimately, but is enjoyable despite this fact. The addition of tech research and a static continual build of your islands throughout the campaign (Which is something I greatly greatly missed in the Tropico 4 game, wishing it existed) provides a cohesive story and more believability, while keeping things humorous. Add in options like crafting your nation's constitution and it has plenty of playability, eve if your fun per minute might be lessened and ther's less commentary about your actions.

Sandbox mode remains solid, especially with the addition of a random generator for islands.

The multiplayer is a GREAT GREAT GREAT addition to the game, but that crate of bananas has a tarantula in it, too. What is that, you say? There is absolutely no save mode at all in it. So if you and your friends play 2 hours playing a multiplayer game? YOu'd better finish it because you won't be able to come back to it, you either have to devote a large chunk of time to it or play on small maps, in the end.

Finally, there are plenty of bugs and glitches, even now, including things like the menu stuttering (at least 30 people including myself had this problem, which was because an intromovie playing in the background had horrible frame rate issues) but there are easy enough fixes of these until official fixes from Kalypso come forward.

Over all? The game is a solid addition to the genre and the Tropico family. IT could have sailed higher, and it might still with DLC, but it's already far more enjoyable and far more playable for computers with lesser capabilities than its competitors in the city building genre, especially with very real trade, invasion, and competitive options in the multiplayer making an already deep game deeper.

I admit that I am coming in as a disatisfied customer in this review, but ultimately I feel it has to be said. From a larger developer, I would be just as angry- but the game's store page has no reference to any incompatibilities it might have had or anything like that. After buying it, and being super psyched to play it after seeing a few let's plays; I downloaded it and waited until everything was done; only to find that when I finally booted the game I was greeted iwht a message 'This game is incompatible with your graphics card, the game was not built to support onboard graphics cards' referencing the model my computer uses. All the while, I can play Skyrim or Xcom on medium settings just fine; but I got to see the menu of the game and if I tried to start a game was greeted with a black screen.

I wouldn't have ended up upset or irritated at the game at all, which now just taunts me in my library view; if I hadn't picked it up and spent 15$ (Thankfully it was on sale) only to end up finding that it's paying that much for a game that functionally works; less than even a coaster. I'm glad the game is successful, but one thing I can only hope of indie developers, especially those who have went past the 'bug-testing stage' of their games; is that they follow the method of Paradox Interactive, and actually give support on these matters. While I want to believe in this game, I've basically been shanked for the belief.
