At first, this game looks great. It is a realistic milatary FPS, and it is set somewhere in the present Middle East. I bought this game for $40, and I thought it wasn't too bad for the first five minutes... Then it I noticed how cheap Insurgency is ($15), and Insurgency is basically the same thing but better. If you die in Squad, you have to wait about a minute just looking at the spawn screen. In Insurgency, at least you can spectate your fellow teammates and not have to look at a spawn screen for a minute. Also, the maps are WAY TOO BIG! It takes me about 10 minutes to get to one side of map from the other. Adding to the maps' bigness, your character gets tired WAY TOO EASILY! Your character can sprint for about ten seconds or so. After those ten seconds are up, your character moves slower than a person with 1000 tons on his back. I am not in the military, but I can sprint for about a two minutes or more. Overall, I would only buy this game if you are rich AF and high AF. I know hardcore fanboys of Project Reality will hate this review with all their soul, but I think if you are this hardcore, you might as well join the military and help the world instead. - me 2016

Okay, I kind of hated Squad back then, but I am a little addicted to it today in 2018. First thing I love about the game: the community. I learned the game within a day because of the community, and they are great to talk to. I had 30+ minute conversations with my squads, and that says something about your average player in Squad. The squad leaders are usually friendly and are great leaders (they get things done). The reason why I think I hated this game in 2016 was because I didn't have a microphone. (Don't buy this game if you can't talk to your squad). Second thing I love about this game: the gameplay. The gameplay is very similar to Battlefield (I mean it is based off a mod of Battlefield 2), so I feel right at home as a Battlefield veteran. It is just a little slower paced, and you have to capture objectives in a certain order. Vehicles were added as well to relieve me from RUNNING TO THE OBJECTIVE (another reason why I hated the game in 2016). They seemed to decrease the spawn time from 2 minutes to around 1 minute or less. Just an overall solid gameplay experience. The gameplay and the community go together like salt and pepper; they really supplement each other to make a great experience. My only complaint about the game is the price: $40! Like holy, I think $20-30 would be better suited (for all games to be honest). The price tag is probably the reason why the game is stuck at less than 5000 players at a time (maybe the reason why the community is actually good).
