movement is sluggish, characters are too big, landing lag feels like ass. completely gutted the fast, kinetic gameplay from the beta.

RIP

EDIT:

they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ did it. can't wait for Lost Skies. thank you for listening to the community, Bossa.

bring back Worlds Adrift.

lets be frank - none of these protos match the quality, heart and purity of WA. they're half-baked ideas that are done better elsewhere, already, by other devs. i'd argue none of them are worth pushing for outside of short-term youtube dollars.

open a crowdfunding campaign or something if money/licensing spatialOS is the issue, the old community would flock to it. i know i would in a heartbeat.

you made something beautiful, unique & thought-provoking. then threw it away for youtube clout and meme games. until another effort is made, the WA community will always feel left behind.

Early Access Review
i bought this in alpha when you had to buy "Droids! - Robot Hyjinx" in google checkout and email the devs a copy of the receipt. that was 10 years ago. out of all of the zombie based open world survival craft type games, it now sits easily in the top with this latest update.

wanna do romero styled run with slow hordes of shamblers, where the focus is on stealth? you can do that.

wanna do a 28 days later style run with sprinters and a focus on guns? you can do that.

wanna just simulate living as a prepper in the middle of the woods, miles away from society's nonsense? you can do that, too

with the sandbox tools, challenge modes, maps and mods you can make it whatever apocalypse you please!

the amount of love, care, time and attention to detail in this game is phenomenal. the devs don't seem anywhere near done with it either. this game has been the gift that keeps on giving for a decade now.

(ignore my hours i play offline because i like having a portable copy)

PSA: DO NOT BUY IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE A LOW FOV

Incredible game, tons of content and wildly engaging. Player fighting with ships is neat, but the storytelling and exploration is out of this world and takes main-stage. I could gush about this game for hours, BUT...

A patch to the game has made it unplayable to a certain players. I was caught in that group.

There are a lot of people that require a high FOV in order to avoid motion sickness while playing first person titles. This is a fact.

The developers decided to limit the FOV to 90 degrees horizontal in the game and players realised they could extend the FOV to a max of 120 using a singular config modification. This was the sole reason I was able to play the game without having to take a break every 10 mins. It's also the reason I didn't refund the game upon discovery.

The developers have patched this method out since I last played. When looking for answers, I found that the developers have shown disdain for people that experience this very legitimate problem when playing their game. They painted us as cheaters.

All we really want is to play the game without having to evacuate our stomachs.

EDIT: Devs doubling down on this 🤡 Posted on Sept 26th in the official forums about FOV.

As already stated by one of our wonderful players, higher FoV is not in the design intent of the game and we will not be revisitng this decision.

Dropping anchor here.

tactical FPS with a loyal playerbase and HUGE potential. absolutely worth the asking price

the random maps really force you to focus on tactics instead of playing the learned meta. super fresh concept.

EDIT: if you're concerned about player numbers - watch the conclusion to this video: https://youtu.be/DlCpX53pvac?t=655

tl;dr: if you like cinematic action-adventure, experimental in-game cinematography and co-op - play this game.

I was absolutely shocked by this game. It leans a bit too heavily on the interactive story elements at moments, but there's a surprising amount of fun to be had with the environmental interactions, set-pieces and scripted events once you get ~30 mins in.

The story is very solid for something as experimental as this game (co-op only, cinematic action-adventure). There's a good even mix of suspense, drama, comedy and action. I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish and was wildly attached to both of the lead characters by the end. There ARE multiple endings and each one packs emotional weight that I was NOT expecting.

The cinematography is surprisingly good for a game with not many to draw inspiration from (again, co-op only cinematic action-adventures). The game plays around with splitscreening in some very unique and interesting ways. Constantly using panels of various size to show shots of multiple events taking place all at once. Sometimes it feels too visually busy, but I quickly accustomed to it and it ABSOLUTELY elevated the experience.

It's also LITTERED with subtle and not-so-subtle movie references that my movie-buff co-op buddy would call out immediately and got a kick out of.

Finally, the ending sequence is one of the most interesting and cool moments I've experienced in a co-op game. It really should be played rather than explained or watched. The same thing structurally has been done before, but not nearly to the level of poignancy as it's done here.

I wanted this game for one thing, and ended up loving it for everything else.
