A masterpiece and an instant classic!!!

CHANNEL YOUR SILKSONG COPE INTO NINE SOLS APPRECIATION.
From the moment I stepped into New Kunlun, I was hooked on Nine Sol's dark, cryptic lore and fantastic "Tao-punk" art direction. The parry system and combat mechanics are genre defining and this title really came out of left field from RCG. The map designs are immense and very well sequenced, and I found myself wanting to explore every area several times as I acquired new movement abilities. The combat Nine Sols delivers will force the player to adapt their play style/gear and make strategic decisions before and during combat. This makes winning fights extremely rewarding. There really is nothing like the feeling of chaining several successful perfect parries and then hitting a max Qi charge talisman for some massive damage 😊.

Pros
  • Fluid, responsive, and rewarding combat.
  • Dark and immersive lore and story experience.
  • Beautiful "Tao-punk" art direction delivers a very unique and gripping ambiance.
  • Map design is great and platforming is seamless and very responsive.
  • The adult themes are a nice change of pace from other similar titles that are very "PG".

Cons
  • The game has a very high skill floor. Story mode is HIGHLY recommended for players without much experience with 2d platformers/metroidvanias. I almost didn't put this as a con, but I figured I would mention it here because it really is one of the only things that MAY be a reason not to buy.
  • THIS IS A BIG STORY SPOILER The ending cutscene was a bit vauge. I just don't fully understand why Yi was still alive on Penglai when he should have been killed from Tianhou virus long ago, and did uncle chubby die? UPDATE - True ending is bada**.
  • Lady Ethereal has some serious "bouncing" going on during her introduction and it made me uncomfortable /s 😂

Conclusion
This game took me by surprise and I wish I would've picked it up sooner. If you like Sekiro, Hollow Knight, Souls games, or really any other titles that punish you for mistakes and force you to adapt, this is for you. That being said, don't let the difficulty stop you from making this purchase. There is a "story" mode and for a mere $30, Nine Sols is 100% worth that for what it offers lore wise.

Time to edit this review. Hard to believe its been almost 10 years for me. I want to go back to 17 lol.

CS2 is one of the most addictive games available. It's the defacto standard for aim training and the community workshop maps in this game will help to improve your skill in other games. CS2 is a very competitive environment, and a game can last up to 90 minutes, so keep these points in mind:
1.) The game has a bit of a problem with paid-for stolen accounts (especially at lower ranks) that have steam tenure and really bad cs stats. People use these accounts to cheat and avoid detection. This also allows hackers to circumvent prime matchmaking, which requires you to have a certain amount of time played, as well as an activated phone that can receive 2FA Codes via text.
2.)Smurfing is a still a big problem in competitive mode in this game, especially with face-it being more popular now. There is a very high skill ceiling in cs2, so the lower ranks tend to have noticeably inconsistent skill levels/playstyles between individuals of the same rank. It makes climbing to higher ranks a bit gauntlet like if you end up placing low.

Here is my Pro Con list for the game overall.

Pros:
1.)Weapon Skins, Outfits, Knives, Gloves, Music Kits, DRIPFEST.
2.)A great way to improve your tracking, aim, and situational awareness for all FPS's
3.)Immersive and Emotional.
4.)Clean, polished, and smooth experience.

Cons:
1.) Closet Cheaters are bad right now (Aug 2025), for the reasons stated above.
2.) Some updates have been pushed before they were ready/result in issues with animations/FPS etc. They usually get it straightened out fast but its worth noting. Valve should have the resources to make sure that doesn't happen.
3.)Even one troll can mess up your whole game. And it doesn't take much to upset people nowadays. Unfortunately kicking a player forfeits any benefits your team would get compared to them disconnecting on their own.

Overall, CS2 is a relatively inexpensive, clean and polished experience. If you put as much time as I have into this game, you will make some good gaming memories and maybe even some friends along the way.

Early Access Review
I used to be REALLY bad into this game. I played it almost nonstop for 2 months on my first server, which was vanilla and a nice pop for duo. That was in the early rust days during the xp system. Now that everything is craftable from square 1, the game is ruined for solo/duo. If you dont have a clan of well over 4-5 men, all cycling in shifts watching base, your loot is gone. Even with the servers that have raid prot for a week before allowing raiding, it just gives the clans more time to scout and have enough resources to wipe a 5 story, honeycombed, armored wall base or 2. All in all the game itself is very enjoyable. The AI corrections have made pve a lot more fluid and realistic, and the consistent updates are another thing i like. (keep it up facepunch!). The gunplay is a little odd at first and takes some getting used to, but as you adjust your gameplay will obviously become more consistent. Another thing about this game is that the community is TOXIC. So toxic in fact that it is the reason why i quit playing the game. I'd bet my bottom dollar that over 75% of the community will kos bambis/nakeds. All said and done its a recommend IF you have a big group of friends or a clan that is looking for a fun open world survival pvp.
