Connect a VR headset and a wheel and you'll find your hours skyrocketing when playing this game with mods. Insanely fun, love the fact it teaches you car control more than any other game/sim out there.

11/10.

THIS REVIEW GOT REPORT SPAMMED WHICH LEAD TO A BAN BUT STEAM SUPPORT UNBANNED IT WOOOOOOOOO

READ THIS FOR AN HONEST OPINION ABOUT GAME ASPECTS THAT "GAME CRITICS" DON'T CARE ABOUT.

If you're from a "poor" country and are wondering if paying the full universal EA price for this pile of garbage is worth it, stick to F1 2020 and read why.

So the main selling point of this game is Braking Point, a story mode where you play as Aiden Jackson for the 2020 F1 season and Casper Akkerman for the 2021 F1 season. Unfortunately this is the only major difference from the last game and this as of now, there's not even any new tracks because it seems Codemasters dumped all their money and hard effort into this and UI changes in general.

To summarise this story mode, it is mind numbingly boring and so overdramatic that I can still hear Aiden screaming "mein gott muss dass sein" after his 4th scripted predictable collision with Casper. Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if Netflix secretly directed this dogwank story mode. Furthermore, you can tell how every year Codemasters reskin the game and add "features" that appeal only to the casual gamers and game critics which give them a positive review for what is just an overhyped fad; there's multiple factors that support this being targeted at casuals (Just prepare yourself to read about what online is like), since Braking Point's "hard" difficulty is so piss easy that the whole story about wanting to be 4th in the WCC in a midfield team makes absolutely no sense, since you can outpace HAM VER BOT in every unscripted race (I'm referring to the races where you start normally instead of being thrown into a wacky "catch up to this guy before lap X" scenario).

Everything else about this game is a literal CTRL C + CTRL V from last year - even "My Team" (Who actually gives a Fokkˢᵐᵃˢʰ about this???), that's just been reskinned from last year's game with some UI changes that allow brainlets to finally be able to comprehend the R&D system.

If you're wanting to mainly play unranked / non-league races online like me, turn away from buying this game now. The lobby system that Codemasters implemented on this game is so dumbed down and "over-graphicalised" from the last game you're gonna have a horrible time simply searching for a lobby to join, and being in one is another story in itself; instead of just "unranked" and "ranked" from last game, you now have:

Unranked - Copy Paste with LESS FEATURES from last game's unranked matchmaking system which is basically what you're forced to go on.
"Casual matchmaking" (Unranked but 5 laps) - Drive your ugly multiplayer FiA spec car with people that don't know how to brake.
"Experienced matchmaking" (Unranked but 25% laps) - Drive your ugly multiplayer FiA spec car with people that also don't know how to brake.
Ranked - Drive your ugly multiplayer FiA spec car with people that treat every race like a battle royale, and also don't know how to brake.

I've put emphasis on the multiplayer cars, because there's such limited customisation to them that the only way you can race in real life cars is through unranked ONLY. Now, in unranked, you're gonna have a horrible time regardless, because Codemasters removed the visibility of the lobby settings to everybody except the host. So to put it into example, imagine scrolling through the lobby list and you join a lobby that claims it's a 25% race with safety car on, minimal damage, blahblahblah. So you're in the lobby, but it says at the top that the host changed the race settings or whatever. Where? Where are the race settings that you could see in EVERY SINGLE GAME AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN BEFORE THIS Codemaster? The only way to find out what these race settings are is by actually forcing yourself to do the race. So the 25% race with the safety car on and minimal damage has now turned into a no rules full damage wreckfest and you're gonna leave the lobby and wonder why you got this game in the first place.

Let's assume you are the host and you've got your perfect lobby with the right settings all set up, prepare yourself to close the game 70% of the time because for some reason Codemasters still haven't implemented a workaround to when people crash or disconnect or whatever during the track loading screen after you get ready. So you're there along with 15 other people all ready with the tick next to your name waiting for the game to realise that HentaiGamer69 with the endless loading circle next to his name is never gonna connect and now it's turned the whole game for you and the other 15 people into a softlock where you can't leave the lobby, basically forcing you to ALT F4, because everyone else will have done the same before the game finally decides 20 minutes later that HentaiGamer69 will never connect (this scenario has been SO prominent in the recent games that it makes you think that Codemasters don't give care about online, further emphasising on how they only care about singleplayer to appeal to the casuals).

^UPDATE FOR THIS^ : The lobby settings are available for everyone to see but the way you view each and every one of them is so clunky and lacklustre that once the host has made a change you still don't know what change has been made since you have to go through around 5 different lobby sub-sections, whereas again in F1 2020 and all games prior, all that useful info would just be below the lobby member list.

There's also a bug where your game will freeze for a second or two as soon as you gain back control from the AI at the beginning of a one-shot qualifying lap; basically meaning if you don't anticipate it prepare to retire or start from the back of the grid (how do they mess THIS up???).

There's not much more to add, the netcode is still dreadful and they made a workaround to the damage system, basically just adding more hitboxes to your car for the other torpedoes in the lobby to rip apart - again, appealing to casuals only.

Pitstops are still scripted and annoyingly jerky.

Engine sounds are a copy paste from last year's game, with the addition of a transmission whine that doesn't make it sound any more realistic whatsoever.

Physics are the same as last year's with the exception of less aero on the cars and being prone to Mazespinning if you're too ambitious with the brakes.

TL;DR Copy Paste from last year's game, Braking Point is cringe and boring, online is worse than last year and Codemasters only care about what game critics/casuals think, wait for this dump of recycled semen to go on sale.

It's a shame that the best NFS I've played is basically just an early build of Project Cars 1.

Half my hours spent on this game so far is on the DZSA launcher downloading workshop content for a bunch of servers that love to restart every 30 seconds.

Had this game on Origin for a long time but I bought it on Steam to review it.

Despite being 7 years old, the graphics on this game look incredibly competitive to modern shooters nowadays. Added onto the fact it's got an insane list of guns, maps, easter eggs as well as tasks to do to unlock MORE guns and gadgets it's got a pretty good life-span, hence why players nowadays still love to work towards the Phantom Prospect assignment.

However, because this game is atleast 7 years old by now it's hard to find servers that have enough varied content for you to experience NEARLY the "entirety" of BF4 multiplayer.

I can recommend Rush servers to new players as there's less vehicles that r*pe you on spawn and in general it's a decent way to explore the maps and shoot people long range.

You can also go on hugely packed Lockers servers to practice and refine your aim, though be aware you'll most likely only die to AEK-971 players.

Movement on this game is also hit or miss. Personally I like it, it has the best flowing movement I've seen in any shooting game to this day; though it can be abused quite a bit by "bunnies"; those who love to spam jump frequently around corners and mess their hitboxes up a tad bit.

Land, air, and sea combat is quite good as well; though once you unlock FLIR optics for each vehicle it's pretty much game over for any infantry trying to hide away from you, quite a bit overpowered in other words.
