While this game may have mixed reviews right now, a lot of that is due to a large amount of server population issues. The Arrowhead team's previous entry in the Helldivers franchise peaked somewhere around 7,000 players whereas Helldivers 2 has been met with viral positive reception and has seen the server capacity raised to 450,000. I sympathise with those who have difficulty logging into the game, you want your product to just work.

With that being said, this game has done something unique that a lot of games haven't been able to capture, and that's the essence of having fun again. It's just a fun game at it's core and that fun escalates the more friends you have along the way.

If you just want to pick up something when you've got downtime to game, right now this isn't for you because you'll spend your time fighting against the popularity and the server limitations. Save your money (or buy the game now to support the devs if you want it's your money) and wait until the servers open up a bit more, or just manage your expectations about being able to log in right now.
