So many years later and multiple versions later and this is still easily one of the most loved RTS titles around, and for good reason, it still gets constant updates, new content and fighting your friends never gets old <3

132h in, just learned what world wonders do, 10/10 would be confused again

I want to preface this by saying I like this game, and it shows amazing promise, but I cannot recommend it in its' current state in good concience

Pros:
- Maps are both incredibly varied and despite almost all of my time being spent on the first map I still have so much to find
- PvE feel challenging but fair. If you are not careful then the most basic of striders will kill you but if you approach each situation strategically you should be ok
- Devs are incredibly responsive and have already implement many community suggested QOL changes (but there is still a long way to go IMO)
- Weapon variety feels good, each weapon is distinctive in feel, look, even sound. You can always tell what you are fighting

Cons:
- Cheating is going to be a prevalent issue in any F2P game, but seems to be worse overall in this game. Since I spent most of my time on Bright Sands I did not encounter many but it is constantly talked about on all social medias
- Weapon balance is a huge issue. The higher tier weapons are almost worthless. The Manticore and the Bulldog win over almost all other weapons. More on this in a moment
- Gear balance is the same as weapons, there seems to be almost no point going higher than green armour and definitely not any higher than blue. Recently I went against someone, I was in full blue gear with a fully kitted Purple shattergun(shotgun) at point blank range. Against green gear and a manticore. I land 4 shots including a headshot and yet the low rarity manticore still wins out by a landslide. The balance is easily the worst issue IMO as there is no point in progressing if you have the best stuff within 1h of playing
- spawn point are also a massive issue, so often specifically on the harder map you will spawn and be shot at within 30s of leaving your drop pod, barely enough time to get your bearings
- Finally, connection issues, quite often you will get hitmarkers that don't register serverside and it ends up looking completely unfair from your side, sometimes creatures will hit thin air 20m from you and you will die anyway

That is all I can think of for now, of course there are always going to be QOL changes that would help, but I can't list everything here

I really want to love this game, and maybe one day I will, but for now, I just can't recommend it despite all of its' perks and the fact that when the game works as intended, it is incredibly tense and fun

For now, I'm going to retire from prospecting, I may come back and update this a year or so from now, but for now it's going to be a no from me

A few quick tips to those who would like to give it a try anyway:
- Watch out for Jeff, he's bigger than he looks
- Trust no-one
- See the Horse
