Visuals and Atmosphere
Unturned really is blocky in nature, really treading the thin line between extremely low-resolution graphics and retro aesthetic, similar to many sandbox predecessors, and conjures up a really charming, inviting world to explore. The extremely low-poly nature of its design creates some interestingly varied environments-everything from lush, forested landscapes to post-apocalyptic urban hellscapes. It tries to add some depth of atmosphere by including a day-night cycle and weather effects to make every adventure unique and just a bit more realistic. The sound design is equally great in order to complement the visuals with a lot of ambient noises and several rather quirky sound effects.

Gameplay Mechanics
Unturned is fundamentally a survival game that bases itself upon exploration and creativity. They literally drop these people into some post-apocalyptic world, full of reanimated corpses, scrounging for food, crafting, and searching for shelter as the three major forms of survival. Controls are intuitive, from scavenging for supplies down to combat. Full of craft opportunities, it also offers many ways that players can create gear and establish bases. The addition of the multi-player function adds an element of surprise, as one knows that others can enter this sandbox for the purpose of cooperation or competition, either way.

This is not a story-led game; however, Unturned focuses on one key fact: the need to survive in a world filled with the undead.

Persistence and resourcefulness are key themes which become evident in how a player conducts himself or herself to stay alive. Through interaction either in the world created or the players acting in it, the players will make their stories. Since it is an open structure, gameplay would range from collaboration in work to hot PvP battles, making every experience differently unique. Challenges: What will make Unturned unique is finding a great balance between challenge and accessibility.

Various modes of difficulty combine to create something for gamers of all skill levels. At times, zombies feel incredibly oppressive, but in-game challenges do a fairly decent job of letting the player find a few avenues through which they might take them down. Completionists may also like to know there is a large number of in-game collectibles and achievements to unlock. That learning curve can be steep, master the crafting system or even the combat mechanics. In one word, Unturned is an excellent indie survival game and seamlessly brings the charm into its entertaining gameplay.

Unique visuals teamed with high exploration and building focus make this title one of the most interesting proposals in its class.
The base game doesn't have deep storytelling besides what you create yourself for driving your story. The foundational ability to do this on top of the overall thrill in surviving will make this one of those games players return time and time again. Looking pretty and offering some great visuals, Unturned is recommended for casual and hardcore survival players alike. Having been rated as 4 out of 5 stars in recommendations, this is actually a must-buy for all those who want to enter a more fantastic, imaginary world of adventure.
