This game used to be amazing and fun. My gateway to online shooters, a fun community, hours of fun and tomfoolery with random strangers. It was the pinnacle of online gaming. It's no longer the case, and it will continue to be a miserable experience until Valve fixes its many problems.

Skullgirls is a cool indie fighting game with a lot to offer. If you like the Marvel vs Capcom games, you'll be right at home. Its gorgeous, hand-drawn animation will make you swoon, all characters are bursting with personality, the gameplay lets you have a great degree of customization. Not to mention that sweet state of the art rollback netcode! Personally, the game was too hard for me to control, but if you're already into this kind of game, it's a no brainer. It's also quite cheap, which helps a lot.

Roguelikes are some of my favorite games, and among the many roguelikes I own, Shovel Knight Dig is absolutely one of the best I've played.
If you've played the original Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope game, you'll quickly find your footing, as the gameplay is quite similar, only you're going down instead of sideways, like in Downwell. Descending through the six (or seven?) levels the game offers, you'll collect gems, relics and items to help you in your quest. I think the name of the game is satisfaction: digging through dirt is quick, snappy and instantly rewarding, same for collecting gems, the sound design of which enhances the experience tenfold. You'll be left with that "One More Run" feeling after every failed attempt that truly sets good roguelikes aside from the others.
To put it simply, it's as if a classic game like Mega Man or Castlevania was remade to fit in a roguelike setting, and it's definitely an incredibly experience. Cannot recommend this enough!

PS: I also own this game on Switch, which is a testament to how captivating the game is.

Note : I have around 28 hours on Steam and 55 hours on Nintendo Switch at the time of this review.

I’m a big Zelda fan and BotW in particular, and seeing the devs cite this game as one of their inspiration clearly shows when rampaging in the dungeons of Going Under. Combat is exhilarating, players have to think on the spot, time their attack, mind their positioning, focus on enemies efficiently before taking them down in often hilarious fashion, whether it be burning demons to ashes, squishing goblins with cars or destroying skeletons with giant hammers.

Difficulty-wise, the game doesn’t pull its punches, especially during the second act of the game and in the post-game content. I was surprised to notice that my muscle memory from BotW ported over to this game, which shows the expertise of the dev team in creating a combat system that feels familiar yet wholly original. Post-game content consists of a mode called “Impostor mode” whose whole focus is on replayability and difficulty modifiers, which will get very frantic near the end. I’m happy to report however that Going Under includes a well thought-out Assist Mode, for those who find the game to be too daunting. This Assist Mode still leaves plenty of challenge but makes it a bit easier overall.

The story of this game is surprisingly enthralling: Jackie’s co-workers are all very funny and sadly relatable, the player really ends up caring about them, especially during the second act. The writing is absolutely brilliant, making Going Under one of the funniest game I have ever played. Jokes on start-up culture and witty remarks on the failings of capitalism always land and leave an impact. The game also have a bestiary to complete, the "Rolodex". I quite like features like this in games, and the many enemy descriptions in Going Under are one of the highlight of this game's writing.

As for the presentation, the game has a lot of charm. The whole game is stylised after the infamous “Alegria” corporate art-style, although it manages to make it charming and appealing to the eye. Soundtrack is full of chill beats that make fighting in the dungeons all the more delightful.

I could not recommend this game enough. While it is shorter than most roguelikes and roguelites (it took me around 12 hours to see the credits roll), the game still offers enough replayability through its Impostor mode. It is a labor of love and care, one that is absolutely hilarious in its gameplay and writing, and it has now become my favorite roguelite ever made.

( I backed this game and thus got a copy of the game one week earlier. )
Well, it's finally out! Indie Pogo is a dream come true. Not only is it a smash-inspired, indie platform fighter with loads of cameos and fighters from 50+ studios, but it is also bundled with charm and personality.
I played a lot during the past week and I couldn't put the game down because it is so much fun! Truth is, I always wanted a game like that, but the added mechanics that differentiate from Smash Bros makes this game even greater. Ok, fighters are auto-jumping and you might find this strange during the first hours of play, but don't quit yet: you'll quickly adapt and start doing crazy combos with your favorite characters: Shovel Knight, Welltaro from Downwell, Teslakid from Teslagrad... as well as other fighters you may not know about, and this game is a perfect way to discover them.
The new "parkour" button is an ingenious fresh mechanic added in a platform fighter of this nature, that blends in really well with the rest of the game and adds so much depth to it. The game is deep enough to be enjoyed by an hardcore platform fighter fan while providing easy and simpler controls for beginners.
There are a few singleplayer modes too, like Arcade or Challenges, that provide good replay value and somehow hard experience. Online battles are also a thing, and it's really well done : when hosting, you have total control over the input delay, a thing that we don't see in other fighters. I find this really enjoyable and less laggy than other games.

Overall, I'd say that if the only thing that doesn't appeal to you is auto-jumping, consider buying this game, because it will become natural after a few matches. This game is a really solid platform fighter.
