Don't waste your money!

They tout over 20 characters, but count every individual form as a separate character. DLC 1 claims to have 11 characters, but only has 5! Expect the DAIMA packs to include SS Goku, SS2 Goku, Base Vegeta, SS Vegeta, SS2 Vegeta, SS3 Vegeta, Base Piccolo as the characters... this brings us up to "18 characters," so the remainder will probably be 1 or 2 slots for the end DAIMA antagonist and whatever fusion results from the bug that Goku purchased in the Demon Realm. If we get SS3 Goku, that's one less slot for what would be a legitimately new character to play. Considering what we got with DLC 1, I doubt we'll see Majin Kuu, Majin Duu, Glorio, Panzy, etc. as characters.

There are NO maps included with this Season Pass. There are NO additional music tracks. There are NO story missions. You get lackluster Bonus Battles that will immediately be rendered inferior to whatever a passionate fan creates on their own in the Custom Battle mode.

Save your money. This is a sad excuse for DLC.

I say this as a diehard fan of the series: This DLC is not worth $18. I very much regret buying the Ultimate Edition of the game... hell, I regret buying the game entirely!

11 characters is disingenuous at best. You get 5 characters. There is a singular costume for Piccolo and, for whatever reason, no option for Gohan to keep/remove the cape.

There are 3 poorly-done bonus battles with conditions that are only barely explained.

Why are there no maps included with this DLC? There were so many options from the Super Hero movie alone... No Red Ribbon base at the very least is an absolute travesty, especially considering that this DLC revolves around the movie!

The developers could've added a new 18 costume, a new Gotenks, a teen Trunks, teen Goten, Pan, Magenta, a costume for Broly, etc.

It's just not for me, I suppose?

I was very interested in this game ever since it came out and decided to pick it up during the Winter Sale. I really like the artstyle here and I'm no stranger to the VN genre.

I didn't think that the story was particularly complicated to follow... I also did not care for it. If you're even remotely familiar with Buddhism or just existentialism in general, you'll most likely be able to guess how certain choices pan out for the dialogue and progression.

I can't really get anything out of this game. Been there, done that.

This game is a LOT of fun. However, this game quickly becomes just as frustrating as other games like League of Legends. I am currently in GM after constantly getting teammates who refuse to switch, turn for flanks, coordinate, etc. Many people in the Diamond+ range throw games for fun. You will run into the kind of person who hasn't been checked enough in their life to behave like a normal human being. Reporting does almost nothing and leaving a game for your own sake is more likely to result in penalties than AFKing, extreme racism, toxicity, etc.

There is amazing variety between each character and the synergy from the team-up functionality is genuinely incredible to see. There is so much versatility when it comes to team comp. The portions of the map that can be destroyed open up new angles of approach, but can also cut off the enemy in some spots.

I like that you can purchase a Battle Pass and never lose the ability to finish it. That's nice.

Every single hero in the game is FREE. Other similar games in this genre would have you save up a ridiculous amount of F2P currency or outright purchase them with real money. It's very refreshing to see that there is no nonsense here and that you can jump into a game with whatever character you'd like. MULTIPLE NEW CHARACTERS EVERY SEASON is pretty insane and my heart goes out to the balancing team... it's neat as a player though!

I'd like to see some more shop variety, as I'm not a fan of a few of the designs for certain characters. There are a good amount of options and, surprisingly, there are quite a decent number of skins that can be earned through normal gameplay or something like a Twitch Drop.

The performance is still quite poor overall. They still have yet to optimize the game and should've left the community fix intact. It's very disappointing to see the lack of progress here.

Try it out!

Most people will finish the game in 2 hours. This game feels longer than that.

There is so much packed into the writing and set design in "Mouthwashing." Please take great care to pay attention to the flow of conversation, the way events are presented, the reliability of the narrator, etc. You are greatly rewarded for your time.

Do not look anything up. Don't visit any fan communities. Just play the game. Don't get spoiled.

-- MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW --

Curly is an incompetent captain who enabled Jimmy's vile nature. The entire disaster could've been avoided and he had the ability to prevent Anya's rape. There's no excuse for what he did. He knew exactly who Jimmy was.

Jimmy deserved so much worse than he got. He avoided responsibility for the entire game. Instead of taking accountability for his actions, he placed Curly in the cryogenic pod instead.

Daisuke was too sweet and naive a lad. He shouldn't have been there.

Swansea was doing good with his sobriety, but his speech to Jimmy at the tail end of the game implies he still struggled with the feelings he was used to silencing with alcohol. I liked that he tried to protect Anya by guarding the vent access into Medical. Their conversation together in the cockpit was presumably over the decision to eventually get Daisuke into the last functioning cryopod.

It wouldn't have helped anything, but I wanted to hug Anya so bad. She's a real genius of a nurse and did a better job with what she had than any real life burn ward could.

Early Access Review
I don't really understand what makes this game so special that it needed to be released as an entirely separate product.

This is essentially what "Overwatch 2" is... an excuse to sell the same crap to the same people all over again. There is, however, a massive markup on champion purchasing and I personally had absolutely nothing transfer over from the first "Smite."

TL;DR: Even as a diehard Dragon Ball fan, I find it very hard to recommend this game. It looks good visually-speaking, but almost every single aspect of the experience is shoddy. Online sucks and Offline has input-reading CPUs with increased ki charge, super armor, etc. Just dust off your copy of Budokai Tenkaichi 3 or whatever and you'll have more fun with that...

It's ridiculous to see the anime music locked behind a $30 paywall... even after spending $110 on the Ultimate Edition of the game!!! That is pure, unadulterated greed. We were told there would be customization options for ALL characters, but the developers decided to edit this undelivered promise out of all advertising materials. It feels like the story mode was tacked on, but then you realize that a lot of other aspects of the game are just as poorly-done.

The story mode is lame when it comes to presentation. You get a PowerPoint slideshow for so many important moments, like the Father-Son Kamehameha, and it really ruins the story's flow. You would think everything gets covered in Goku's story mode, but there are missing pieces scattered throughout the story mode for other characters, like Frieza.

The "What If?" alternate universes/timelines are fun, but they don't go as far as they should and there is not enough variety. There's nothing like the crazier stuff from the Budokai games... Cell absorbing Krillin was hilarious back then! You do get neat moments for some underappreciated characters... Chiaotzu really gets to shine in the early saga pathways. I had a blast with the AU resulting from the Raditz mission. Unfortunately, many of the moments are ruined by the whole PowerPoint presentation thing.

Some people find the combat to be excessively difficult. I disagree. I think it's a little bit of a challenge to get used to the controls and flow of combat, but it clicks well afterwards. You cannot win simply through brute force and button mashing. Play strategically and take advantage of a character's kit. If you're good enough, you can beat someone using a 10 point character with Mr. Satan or Chiaotzu.

The online has, thus far, been okay. I have experienced no connection issues. It took ages for the developers to add a penalty in for anyone who purposefully disconnects from Ranked... it was far too late a change. The game's playerbase has massively dropped. The only people left are those who take full advantage of every available cheesing routine in the game. It's impossible for newer players to break into this environment, so I highly recommend staying AWAY from PvP. It's just not fun.

The character customization is lackluster. Many of the costumes and the few available accessories are locked to certain characters. For example, you cannot use the Yardrat outfit for UI Goku. As I mentioned previously, the developers never delivered on their customization promises and, as a result, nearly the entire roster has no available options. There aren't even any alternate colorways like there were in older games or even "FighterZ." There is a singular aura added for characters to-date and it was exclusive to V-Jump. The ability to pick what music plays during Sparking Mode for each character is a nice touch. There are only 4 voicelines for characters to use when emoting.

The character variety is nice, but there are a ridiculous amount of duplicates. Every single form for a character is a separate option, so Goku is split up into probably over 20 'characters' and it's just as bad with the DLC for Gohan and Piccolo. There are a LOT of missing characters! There are even some characters who show up in the game with voicelines and full movesets who cannot be played... The developers took away convenient modding ability, which was the only way for most folks to play characters like Gohan Black. Of course, this also means that a large variety of client-side customization was rendered inaccessible. There are ways to work around it, but the average player wouldn't be aware of that.

The "Girl Talk" functionality in the Encyclopedia features Chi Chi, Bulma, and Videl discussing every character. The dynamic between these three is often left unexplored, so I personally found this to be a highlight of the game. It's cool to see Chi Chi and Videl commenting on Future Gohan. The icing on the cake here is that every single line is voiced!

Collecting the Dragon Balls is a very boring process. You essentially only get them by grinding mission after mission... the kicker is that the Namekian Dragon Balls only drop in a mission where the Earth Dragon Balls do... and there's never a guarantee anything drops at all! The wishes don't do a whole lot, but it's still pretty lame that most players will have a hard time trying to experience this feature.

The Custom Battle creator function is cool, but not as functional as it could be. I made a Bardock vs Frieza scenario with alternate endings and cutscenes and the UI was a nightmare to navigate. The dialogue choices are all sorted in a nonsensical order and there is no quick search function. You are left to scroll through EVERY dialogue choice in the hopes you find what you want. The available options don't cover enough ground either.

This is like one of those video games you see a character playing in the background of a movie or TV show.

Absolute garbage. Ridiculously predatory MTX. Cash shop + Battle Pass. Pay to win characters. Gooner bait skins / characters. Poor performance. Meh story at best. Nexon product.

Surprising amount of depth to what seems like very simple combat.

Lots of build options, decent amount of stuff to unlock, cute music (wish there was more!), neat art, and Froggy supports trans rights... what's not to love?

The soundtrack reminds me of Kirby, so I wish we had that option to swap Froggy's color around.

I haven't beat Normal Mode yet, but have reached the final boss. Gotta unlock Hard Mode and then knock out the other miscellaneous achievements... 3 shields, here I come!
