More DLC than planets in the solar system, even including Pluto. Damn near unplayable without them, too.

I really enjoy this game! It's basically what it says on the tin. However, it kinda runs like ass if your system hasn't been made in the last 2 years. That being said, I've compiled a list of optimizations to make the game run faster.

r.ScreenPercentage - Increases render resolution, reduces artifacting at the cost of severe FPS drop. Permanent affect on FPS till restart.
r.AmbientOccolusion.Compute - Changes the shader type used for AO, decent FPS boost depending on GPU type.
r.fog - Binary value, enabled/disables fog obv.
r.ViewDistanceScale - Modifies view distance. Incredibly minor impact on FPS.
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen - Clamped to 0-10, set to 0 to make the game look decent. Small FPS boost aswell.
r.Shadow.DistanceScale - Clamped to (visibly) 0-2, set to 2 for longer range shadows at the cost of minor FPS loss.

Launch config

-nothreadtimeout - Stops the game from CtD'ing when the render thread is dead for too long (can happen on driver hangs)
-NoVerifyGC - Reduces CPU load greatly, but increases RAM use greatly. Use at your own risk.
-norhithread - Disables multithreaded rendering calls, can affect FPS & stability, positively or negatively depends on system

I changed my mind because the free episodes are so based. It fulfilled everything I felt was missing from the base game; more tech-based levels. Of course, tech levels didn't really fit the theme of killing the shrub, but it was a cool tileset that was never really fleshed out to it's full potential. The original part still stands, though the rating was flipped because of the episodes.

The "Graphics Upgrade" that came in this "update" is rather lackluster, being beaten out by Darkplaces over 3 years ago. You also have annoying cutscenes when you launch the game, along with a heavily modified pause/main menu. Only positive things I can think of is the steam multiplayer and achievements, but otherwise I'd have preferred to keep Darkplaces.
