I've been told to buy this game by my friend, and I did it, not even care to read the reviews first. As I read them now, only one question comes up in my head: are the reviews.. bought?

When I first launched up the game, it looked fine. Cool artwork, nice animations, perfect performance. We've decided to try Hard first, later planning to move onto nightmare when we finish the game. We got to Ward 13, and the game was promising.

That's when it went downhill. As the story moved on, it kinda went on with repetitive pattern: go there, kill that, bring something, get a key etc. Basically every location played the same, with the only difference being the enemies and the general style of the level.

As for the bosses, I've often asked myself, "Was that even a boss?", seriously. Even on hard or nightmare, the bosses looked more like a special enemy, often dying after 15-20 shots with a sniper rifle. There were exceptions, of course, when we had to do the same boss a couple of times (like you should in a good soulslike.) but it wasn't presistent.. (and the final boss battle? I thought they must be joking. You deal funny damage, he shoots some balls, which can be dodged by pressing "a" or "d" , then he takes you to a realm where you lose health and need to kill enemies so you deal more damage, you get back, deal damage, he gets a shield so you do no damage, he shoots balls, takes you... does it sound fun? for me it wasn't.)

Story itself is very, very mid, I didn't find it very dramatic or captivating, but I'm not a big fan of fantasy, magic etc. so it was to be expected. Although, I must say, it was just plain.. boring. As i said earlier, most of it relies on very basic conversations that there was someone, who knew something, and you need to find them and kill someone then get that blah blah blah.. and then it's on repeat. For soulslike games it's just the worst thing imaginable. They are MEANT to be replayed, and how am I supposed to do that when I'm yawing on every dialogue there is?

What's positive about the game is the gunplay, which was satisfying. The guns were actually doing something, the gun mods were fun and often useful, a lot of customization through the ring and amulet system (and of course the graphics and performance, as I said earlier)

Overall, seeing reviews that "This is the best game I've ever played" or "It's dark souls with guns" make me very confused. But hey, everyone can have their opinion. For me though, this game is like a mobile soccer game compared to FIFA (FIFA being dark souls in this case).
