The game is not abandonware, it’s finished, people seem to be having a tough time grasping this concept.

This game can absolutely be child’s play if you play it on easier settings, but trust me when I say this, playing it on the hardest difficulty settings is far more fun and rewarding (but not you iron man).

Without a doubt, this game is a grind-fest. You will be grinding for resources for an ungodly amount of time. You will have a tough time grasping the concept behind building your base. You will save scum to recover 1-2hrs back because you spent to much time Lolly gagging rather than resource farming for your base build and finally, you will restart multiple runs until you hit your flow state.

It is a punishing game, not in terms of technical ability, but in terms of your time management capabilities.

10/10, its the type of jank you're looking for.

In all honesty. Hybrid FPS/RTS is a genre that many studios have attempted but none have succeeded (Especially PvE).
These devs still didn't succeed (unfortunately), but its still the best crack at the genre I've seen in a long, long time.

I am pleasantly surprised with what they got right, it made it possible for me to overlook a lot of the egregious things wrong with the game.

A great addition to the main games content.

No new units added (well, except for one) but the customization options for Legion units adds complexity in a unique way via blueprints:

You want mass-murdering humonculi equipped with 50. cal Sniper rifles?
Rev-6 squads all kitted out with Laser Rifles?
Rapid-fire Plasma Artillery Spiders?
Terminator tanks equipped with infantry gibbing gatling guns?

Go right ahead, but make sure you mix up the composition.

There isn't any concern with supplies (thankfully), but your resources are limited when on-mission, the more advanced a unit is, the more they will cost to deploy in battle.

Its a really good DLC, but it plays almost the same as the main game.

Slowly (and methodically) maneuver your troops into and advantageous position before striking.
If you try to outright assault, you'll run out of resources and be unable to requisition more troops.
99% of the time, you are assaulting heavily fortified positions that will chew through your units instantly.

There are very few moments where I felt like I was overwhelming the opposition (despite them claiming the opposite) with sheer numbers. More often than not, I was running small, effective detachments (ATGM/Sniper + Scout) to soften fortified locations before sending in carriers and humonculi to rout out inhabitants.

There were moments where I could see the developers intentions, massive war torn maps with extremely wide battlefields.
It made me want to line-up my troops, initiate an attack move and watch the carnage unfold, however, I knew if I did do that, I would have to restart immediately after because the losses would be untenable.

Overall, I had a lot of fun playing as "Legion" and I would say it had way less moments of frustration than the base game.

Command: "We need you to fly through a tunnel that is several miles long."

You: "But it's only my 4th sortie."

Command: "Yes."

They finally are releasing a fix to the poorly developed balance change to gunplay.

This is in reference to minimum/max range.

In fact, they are adding a slider to allow the player to control those values.

Best believe the first thing I'm doing is figuring out what values correspond to the pre-balance update.

Game was good, why did it have to sit like this for 4+ months?

You don't balance a game by forcing people to play a certain way, that will make any game very "un-fun".

Very goob game.

If you have crippling OCD, you will love mining the map for every drop of precious metals.

If you're wondering if its worth the price, yes, very much so, its a very unique experience that has (to my knowledge) not been done before.

If you're wondering if you can explore your creative freedoms in this game, yes you can make your own maps and scenarios.

If you are hoping for the exact same experience with the exact same features as every other tower defense game that came before it, then I hate to break it to you, it won't be.

This game hails from a golden age where factor was favored over form.

The best way to describe this game would be: Runescape but with guns and survival elements.
Combat hits based on dice-rolls depending upon character skill levels (finesse, blunt, rifle, etc).
You can build traps and fortifications to slow down incoming attacks on your base.
Clean inventory system, looting sucks but if it were easy, what fun would that be?
Outfit your guys with weapons that are available to you, they will not fire if they don't have ammo.

I don't know why this was never recommended to me, was literally right up my alley.
Had to have a fever dream about this game before I remembered it.
