NO! GO BACK! Do not heed this recommendation. It is compelled by powers beyond mortal ken. Do not follow my example. Flee before you can be consumed by the beings that dwell beyond. I see them coming. In their endless waves, their forms shrouded in darkness and pixel. Limbs twisting and melding. So often packed together that they seem one mass of a single mind. Their sole focus upon reaching you and consuming you into the endless teeming horde.

Should their grasping tendrils not take you then they will attempt to seek your ruin. The gaping maws of their writhing abyss shall threaten. Never ending, never ceasing hunger driving them onward to your destruction. What's more glimpses of the eldritch beings who command the teeming, gnashing legion await you as well. The high priest shall come first. He shall attempt to turn you, lure you to the bosom of the Old Ones. Then shall come the Horror. Its horns soaked in the vitae of those who have refused their offer before.

The Hive is next. Its drones shall do their utmost to take your mind. If they cannot surely it shall be obliterated by the buzzing of their million thrumming wings! Should that fail only worse awaits. The Legion and the Wyrm shall descend, oft these two are seen acting in concert for each on their own is deadly powerful and where one leads the other follows swiftly.

Even if you somehow destroy these visages of the beyond it will avail you not for their servants are never ending. They shall come, moving hither and thither even should you put the game away they will be there, behind your eyelids waiting. They move only ever closer.

You see now. Downloading this game will mean endless nights of hellish struggle. To fight your way through the horde and win, or to fall and lose another tiny fragment of sanity. An endless cycle fought over the 20 minutes before the sun rises. Never to end. Never to be sated. Forever hungry.

Join us. Join the mass, the horde, the hive. Be one with us. Download the game.

EDIT: On reflection I've realized that it WAS petty of me to downvote the game based on my disappointment over the ending. Hence this edit. Though I would like to address the comment from the developer the original review got.

You do yourself a disservice by assuming that people will only judge your work based on whether or not it was "their fetish" rather than the overall quality of the work itself. The Kate and Finale arcs didn't fall short for me because they "weren't my fetish". They fell short because everything that led up to them set a standard that I expected them to meet.

Honestly in hindsight I can understand it with the Finale route. I think it suffered because I went right into it after the Kate route so compared to the pacing of the rest of the game the last two felt rushed.

I understand that my original review was far from constructive criticism. It was a petty, knee-jerk reaction to disappointment over a game that I felt had let me down in the final stretch. I'm leaving the entirety of the original review along with the developer response in this post for context.

So that said. I've changed my rating to a recommendation with the caveat that I still feel that, at the very least, the Kate route leaves a lot to be desired in terms of how it breaks the pacing of the game over all.

ORIGINAL REVIEW

CAVEAT ON THE "Not Recommended": I can't recommend a game that I feel failed to stick the landing. It's a good game (or good porn at least) ignore my lack of recommendation especially if futa is one of your things, but I'll say there's literally no reason to play past Linda's Route except for curiosity and gallery completion. The Kate and Finale routes drop the ball HARD.

Futa Fix ♥♥♥♥ Dine 'n Dash Final rating: 6/10
+Five of the seven routes are fantastic
+The quality of the art and animation is great
+It gets you off.

-The binary choice system is a bit of a snooze
-The ending flops like a used sock
-The game still needs some fixes.

It probably would have been an 8 or 9 out of ten if those final two "Routes" had been as good as the first five.

DEVELOPER RESPONSE

"So let me get this straight, 6/10 but would have gotten 8 or 9 because two routes weren't your fetish?

Been reading both the positive and harshest of negatives. But this review is the most childish petty thing I have read of them all. Grow up."

This game became one of my favorite games of all time for one, simple reason. You can feel how much its creators cared about they were doing.

You come to believe in the Funplex in the same way you might believe in Gotham or Middle-Earth.

Each character from the wise and whimsical Mrs. Francine to the lowliest of "Rando"s has a personality and story. Perhaps not literally written out somewhere, but nobody feels flat.

My fellow Skyrim modders can attest that immersion is a definitive appeal of gaming over other media, and this game immersed me in the POV character's life despite lacking Skrim's 3D graphics and mountains of bugs. Now I'm not saying Arcade Spirits is better than Skyrim... but I won't deny it either.

What I'm trying to get at in my own special way is that you should play this game.

If you like Visual Novels: You should play this game

If you DON'T like Visual Novels: You should play this game

If you like Arcades: You should DEFINITELY play this game.

If you like Immersion: You should play this game.

If you like Romance: You should play this game.

If you could give Romance a hard pass: You should play this game.

If you've ever wanted to punch a caricature of Konami in the face: You should ABSOLUTELY play this game.

If you've ever asked yourself "Where's the flying dropkick button?": You should play this game.

If you 're bored and looking for something to fill the void where your social life should be: You should play this game.

If you're a writer who appreciates well-done fiction: You should play this game.

If you're one of our future robot overlords: You should play this game.

If you're a soulless corporate husk whose only pleasure is seeing the number on the company's bank account go up a couple of decimal points: You should play this game IMMEDIATELY and hopefully break the programming.

And finally, If you breathe: You should play this game.

An acceptable piece of puzzle-solving. The setting and story will drive those so-inclined to solve each room for the merest glimmer of an answer as to what all this is about. If you played Fireproof's first "The Room" game then playing this one is a no-brainer. If you've tried neither I highly suggest checking them both out. They are a lot of fun and at times rather tricky. Those who aren't careful and observant may find themselves leaning on the hint button. I recommend trying to avoid this as it does suck a teensy bit of the fun out of the puzzle solving.

I got this game day of launch as a result of Totalbiscuit's livestream. From what I've played thus-far it's a lot of fun.
PROS
Interesting story.
Balanced Gameplay (IMO)
Replayability stacked to the sky.

CONS
A little short narratively.

The one Con I can find is more of a personal nitpick. Also It's mitigated by replayability a bit and I've only played with one pilot so I don't know if the story continues with others.

If there were one complaint I would have about this game it's that it's too short. Still it's worth a buy if it's on sale (As it was when I bought it) or if you're a fan of puzzle games. I'll definitely recommend it to my friends.

An interesting game concept. My only issue is that eventually you get to levels where you have to take leaps of faith switching through the colors hoping you're not erasing the only paths. It becomes trial and error really fast. This aside it is a fun platformer and I would recommend anyone out there to try it and make a judgement for themselves.
