A very fun RPG, especially if you're a fan of titles like Knights of the Old Republic or Fable. It's easy to see why so many consider this to be a cult classic, though you should be prepared for the occasional bug.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines delivers the creepy feel of Vampiric nightlife, without relying on gimmicky jump scares and disgusting faces, instead focusing on offering an atmosphere of darkness and mystery, accompanied by a soundtrack that supports it.

This is definitely a game that deserves an HD rerelease.

If you are put off by the occasional bug, such as doors not unlocking properly, you may get frustrated by this game.
Looking past that, however, this game makes you feel like you actually gain something from most of the quests given to you. Like most games of this type, however, your choices don't seem to impact the quest-to-quest style, however you do get a few choices of ending based on what you do throughout, which is pretty cool.

There are definitely characters that feel under-utilised, but for the most part, characters within were fun and interesting, and most left you wanting to help them (and sometimes hinder). The dialogue options for the vast majority of the game were varied and intriguing, though your options are different depending on your clan, and your skills.

Another thing to note is that each clan makes your playthrough different in some significant ways, such as "racial tension" each clan has their own reputation and may be viewed with disdain or awe depending on who you deal with, and the choice of clan you make can change your entire experience in the game.

Further, this game doesn't fall into the usual pitfall of simple race and class mechanics. Sure, some clans excel at certain things that others don't, but for the most part you are able to customise yourself to be able to fill the roles you want, though there are extreme classes that restrict specific aspects of your character. It actually feels like your choice of clan doesn't dictate entirely who you are, merely your initial strengths and weaknesses.

The absolute best part of this game though, is that it doesn't make Vampires boring. Not all vampires are the same, they're given personality. It actually feels like the undead have lives.

(It's recommended to get the Unofficial Patch, to support your gaming experience)

I used to have friends. Then they started playing this game. I haven't talked to anyone in 2 years. They saw the void.
