If you are buying this seriously for the racing this I have personally met heroin junkies smarter than you

If you know about this game you know exactly what you are getting into, the game is a piece of ♥♥♥♥ but I love it especially as base game they still allow you to break the sound barrier going in reverse


Also for some reason it launches fine under proton, something I honestly didn't expect given the reputation of the game

Imagine if Saints row 4 was a Christian's wet dream

Only problem I encountered was the game getting stuck on "Updating Executeable" and crashing after, which I fixed by grabbing a random executeable from a google drive

Oh yea, it runs on Linux but the native build crashes after the intro

Controller support under Proton is not working though you can still use Steam input or Touchscreen to navigate menus

Other than this the game runs out of the box on Proton experimental with no Audio, Visual or performance issues

As of current Kingdoms crashes to desktop when playing the game under proton regardless on Steam deck or Distro

Controller support is also completely non-functional under proton, for what is targeting the "Cozy gaming" audience this is a rather annoyingly funny issue

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the controller issue can be worked around but it shouldn't be like that

As of April 14th 2025, This has been rectified and can be played on Linux OotB

They left this game in a sad way, really sad

Once they added the workshop it went down hill,

While we can get community made content it has be broken for modern (post 2017) for years with an non-reproducible crash and is now only accessible via a public beta branch

Now we got re-elected a version that if I remember had some of it's own issues but nothing in comparison to the lose of the very same workshop support

The only truely playable version is a beta branch that you need to hunt the key down for which dates bate to pre-workshop (Link[www.saintsrowmods.com])

EDIT: Re-elected build straight up crashes under proton, stick the the Pre-workshop build for co-op and stability

I got stabbed by an AI catgirl because I was upset that she wouldn't let me commit grand larceny.

The game is as old as much as it costs

I get to shoot my friends and not have the police onto me

I did play this game back on the Xbox 360 about 5-6 years ago (I know I was late to the party)

Glad I can play this with Mouse & Keyboard and high framerate but £40 for what is a 14 year old game is a bit much

Granted it's more worth it than the Playstation 4 rerelease as it is not only on a completely new platform but it also intergrated modern tech like DLSS/FSR/XeSS with Frame generation for those who have 360hz monitors

Had this game (and still do) on the Xbox 360 and now the game is 60 fps instead of a locked 30 it feels much better like the 360 was strangling it's potential.

That being said there are some major issues like
1) The execution QTEs being completely broken if you go above 60 making auto QTEs mandatory (as of patch 1.0.3.1, this is no longer an issue)

2) The third boss becoming unkillable randomly in the end of her second phase

3) No graphical settings other than resolution and window management

This game does run beautifully under proton I had some stutters they never appeared during cutscenes BUT the game runs like ♥♥♥♥ on the Steamdeck unless you modify the game's configuration file due to the 3rd issue I had. Don't be discouraged though there is a guide on Steam that makes it playable at for a locked 30fps
