Honestly, Half Life Alyx is probably one of the rare gems of a perfectly executed VR game while also continuing the story of Half Life. I originally did not have a VR headset but by luck, I was able to snag one for a week and try out this game and wow it was a good choice.

The concept of VR for a Half Life game seems a bit oddball at first and likewise, if or when you watch someone play it on a VOD, you wonder how exactly this looks any good. Truth be told, what we see is not what the player sees in-game, it’s fully immersive. Likewise, the textures and attention to detail with physics makes the experience all the more fun.

It’s refreshing to see a lot of the Half Life 2 assets ranging from cereal boxes to Combine technology and NPCs get high resolution models. I’ve even had moments where I’ve stopped, picked up a headcrab and enjoy the little details of the model while also being grossed out of course.

Gameplay wise, overall it was fun. The idea of gravity gloves and being able to pull objects pays homage to the Gravity Gun while also putting a twist. Sometimes I even felt cool, yanking objects, then taking out the barnacle that snagged it. The upgrade system felt refreshing as well so late game was a lot more rewarding if you sought out Combine Resin across the maps.

Without spoilers, the story was well executed and I can see how this fits perfectly with what we know so far about the Half Life series and freely expands on it. Some moments really instilled horror and fear, fast-pacing combat, and excitement.

I’m eager to see what will be next for Valve and Source 2 in VR if they are continuing to work up another title as a VR experience.

Honestly it's a fun game. It might not necessarily be a true hacker, but it makes you think about the ethics of being a hacker and the lines of black hat, grey hat, and white hat. A truly wonderful story too! I had a lot of fun finding easter eggs and just having laughs when skimming systems. And don't forget, wipe your logs!

The developers have dedicated so much time into remaking a loved game. Their love for such a project is definitely shows in the work they've put in!

I'm one who usually likes to play with just friends and go until we get bored. And honestly, playing Don't Starve with friends has to be an anything could happen. We're all working together to get things done, then we all start to wreck each other. 10/10
