Honestly shaping up to become one of the best Rimworld/DF-alikes.
Some mechanics like livestock management are still a little lacking, but the progression of wealth, culture (beliefs), skills, social cohesion, family trees and world interactions like quests, trade and hospitality doesn't lag far behind the big players. Some neat attention to detail with things like smoke management for heating, food/root cellar mechanics and individual possessions. Personally I'm a big fan of z-levels, but your mileage may vary there.

While it looks all cutesy and cartoony, it can be a bit tough to get into, because the game expects you to prioritize certain aspects over others.
For example, it's easy to get dragged into the weird conversation system to try and recruit people, or fiddle with the preaching and belief system too much, when immediate survival and skill training are more important at first.
Other aspects aren't immediately apparent either, like the net loss of seeds during farming until your farmers reach a higher level. If you don't think that losing is fun, this might be a bit too stressful for you.

Still, it's pretty adorable and cozy, definitely worth a shot if you can excuse the medieval/fantasy theme.

Uwa, nerdiest idle game in the world. If EVE wasn't enough of a spreadsheet simulator for you, this is the next best thing.

The UI takes a bit of getting used to at first, but the game isn't actually all that bad or complicated beyond needing to analyze the market and finding your niche in it.

Welcome to Crazy Knife Hobo Simulator: Bodysurf Edition
It contains weaponry banned by the Geneva Convention, as to give you that warm, fuzzy feeling of playing as the bad guys. Takes a while to get into, since you need to develop muscle memory pertaining to your particular class and build, whereas you also need to factor in the builds of your fellow lunatics if you want to surf bodies through higher difficulties.

No solo mode as of yet, but with just one or two other (equally as crazy) people you can push this to ridiculous levels.

Wow, they really turned this game around from being an insanely slow and ultra-clunky RNG-fest. It's still got a pretty steep learning curve and you need to (micro)manage a lot of things depending on what kind of economic model you go for. There's a basic survival element as you need firewood, food and shelter (an inn works, too) for the winter.

Further in, there's some crime and uprising mechanics, the king's on your ass every year for taxes and levies, and the clergy wants it's share of whatever it is you're making. Other nobility will eventually be attracted, and they're just as fun to handle as they are in Dwarf Fortress.

That said, the economic simulation is insane, every family, including your own, has it's own possessions, money and market presence. To keep this from being too much to manage there's outside trade, and you need to make sure not to bleed all of your settlement's money to a trade deficit as your people will order life-giving supplies such as booze, clothing and other stuff from the outside world if given the chance.

Give this a try if Dwarf Fortress was a little too shallow for you.

Pretty intricate, almost feels a bit like one of the old Ultima games combined with a survival sim. Takes a bit of getting used to, but there's enough depth and the price is low enough to make for a neat MP experience.

Also, this is one of the very few games I know which has actual plant breeding, slowly improving quality across multiple generations.

Don't think a game ever made me giggle quite so much. There's a spiked codpiece upgrade for your guards, among other things.

On the other end, the freedom it offers is astounding, and at every opportunity you're reminded of your ability to abuse the ever-increasing power you're amassing.
Started annexing new lands left and right to where it turned into a blur.
Then one of the kings I just met said "I'd agree to be your vassal if you can tell me the color of our flag."

I couldn't. So he held a tirade about how he couldn't willingly submit to someone who cared so little.

They couldn't stop my legions but they could still deal psychic damage to me by spitting facts. 10/10

There's a guy named Hans with big hands. Your tagger name is Ghost cause you don't have a character model. You can pet the dog and smooch the eggs. Just about long enough to last you an average ZOOM trip. Got it for free.

10/10

Surprisingly deep for being such a cheap lil game. Combines a bit of Simtower with economic balance ant farms like Songs of Syx, where something as simple as improving your healthcare can lead to a cataclysmic death spiral of baby boomers later on.

Today I blew up because:
•I forgot to vent the furnace pressure before refueling it
•I put in too much fuel after venting the furnace
•Volatile ice evaporated in my hand, combusting against the heat of a fabricator
•Someone overfilled a water canister right next to me
•Glass breaks at 200kPa of a pressure differential
•Another (yet) unknown reason
•All of the above ✓

10/10 , would explode again.

"You want some more plates to spin? Well then...": The Game: The Experience

When there's so many interactions between things that you catch yourself actually planning things out instead of painting over the map with skyscrapers, they're doing -something- right. I guess this is what Simcity Societies wanted to be back in the day.
