This is an excellent game. Since 2015 we've appreciated Until Dawn for its gorgeous visuals, immersive story lines, and relatable teen cast of characters. Although at times incredibly 'cringe' and stereotypical horror tropes, this game is charming in every way. You embrace it as a cheesy teen drama in the start, and stick along for the heart pumping thrills that the mysteries of the mountain gradually unfolds. Nothing beats the feeling of your first run through, gripping your PS4 controller as the game demands you 'don't move' through intense hunting sequences. I have been a die hard fan of this game roughly since the original release. Knowing how much I adored the 2015 original, I purchased this remake a day after launch at full price - $110 Australian - and at the time had extremely mixed reviews. Many players complained about complete game crashes, distorted visuals, objects/characters and scenery having delayed loading times in cutscenes, and overall many other visual bugs that HEAVILY impacted the immersion of gameplay. I can unfortunately say that I was one of these players, who was many a time upset by just how terribly buggy this game is.

Note that this game is not a remaster, but rather a complete remake, with the entire game from start to finish having been reenacted and animated. In terms of what has changed since the original, surprisingly not a lot.
There is an extended intro sequence that further details the relationship between our main cast, particularly taking time to introduce the three siblings - Josh and his twin sisters Hannah and Beth. In my opinion, this overly drawn out beginning makes no impact on the rest of the story, and doesn't make me feel for the characters any more or less than I did with the original format. Other than spending several more minutes of Hannah/Beth saying "My sister" this, "my sister" that, or referring to Josh specifically as "brother", it doesn't offer a whole lot. Like, we get it, you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ siblings. The original showcased that in far less time and it was fine.

There is also another cutscene added at the end, which I will not spoil other than stating that it teases at a sequel, which is likely what prompted this remake to begin with.

There are some other extended scenes that occur during the game when each couple splits off to carry out certain tasks around the lodge, but I frankly don't recall specifically what they were. I think Matt and Emily had a spat that wasn't included in the original. The fluff they added to this remake isn't a whole lot, but it isn't bad. I don't believe that any choices here make any further impact on the story, either.

No new choices, routs, or deaths *to my knowledge*. There are, however, new Totem types, which may be helpful to first-time players. I thought they were cool but not of use to me.

The bugs, though... Oh, boy, the bugs... If this is your first time playing Until Dawn, I wouldn't recommend purchasing this at all. Go and find the original for under $15 on a console. The visuals may be outdated, but they most certainly aren't horrible. The overall story plays out exactly the same, and Josh's face isn't animated nearly as weirdly as it is in this. For the price, this version kind of sucks. The amount of settings I had to rework, or time I had to completely restart the game was infuriating.

I love this game and I believe this is a faithful remaster, keeping the essence of everything that was good about the original. The bugs are just absolutely awful. Unplayable at times. Just really bad. And they're all too frequent, that's my issue.

I usually read reviews of people saying a game is buggy and ignore the warnings, as I RARELY encounter any of the issues the reviews mention. This time was different. I thought "If it's a few here and there, I'll manage." But it turned out to be every single cutscene, so I struggled to enjoy and appreciate the new lighting and animation etc because of how harshly certain aspects would glitch/bug. It was really sad, but I did get through it.

If you already love this game, I'd save your money, wait for a sale or until it is explicitly stated by players/devs at the time that the bugs have subsided and been fixed. This would simply be an awful first experience of this story at present day, unfortunately.

I miss my PlayStation. I got way further on there and have such a love for this game, but just can't bring myself to replay the whole thing again without finishing my initial save, given everything that I've done. Good game though. Got it on Steam mostly for the ability to mod and muck around with seamless co-op.

This game satisfies my desire to cook without falling to the inflated cost of real-life produce. I get to decorate cakes and bake batches of biscuits happily, or live out my childhood dreams of going on Kitchen Nightmares. Having been thrown out of culinary school, this game scratches that itch, whilst providing a plethora of strange methods and quirky physics. Here's to all of the CoD lobbies that told me to return to the kitchen. I have indeed and enjoy every minute of it.

Bit of a learning curve and takes quite a few hours to truly get into. This being said, it's thoroughly enjoyable with friends or alone. Though to note; playing with friends in other regions of the world there is a consistent issue with server delay and lag when performing actions. As an Australian playing with those in the United States, I find myself totally unable to combat enemies in game. There's something with the time it takes to swing at a monster, then attempt to kite their next attack, and the game's latency that makes it impossible to dodge. The actions happen before the animations, but mine occur late. I've heard that this is also an issue on the console version of the game, even when players are in the same region. On the same note, I am unable to enhance the speed of wood cutting and mining by spamming/holding the button, unlike my US mates. Something about the game feels slower when playing with them as opposed to when I am alone in my own server. Nevertheless, always a fun time. Just takes a while to get the hang of; particularly the strengths and weaknesses of each selectable character; though once you find your preference, it feels nice to get cosy with their unique abilities. Personally I play Wendy, as the assistance of her ghost-pal Abigail helps me negate the issues I have with connection when attempting to combat foes. I love my little killing machine girlie :)

a little masterpiece. so much to be learned and explored, even after completing the game itself.
this being said, i do recommend waiting patiently for a sale to hit this game.
it is fairly short, as i completed in just two 3hour livestreams.
the platforming, i found to be extremely infuriating at times, but had much fun nonetheless.
this story carries a lot of mystery to be unravelled, and explored in alternate sources such as possible sequels in future as well as comic prequels, i've heard.
very visually beautiful and disturbing all in the right ways.
few bugs besides your average "WHY DIDN'T THAT JUMP WORK" etc.
very good overall. may look into DLC if they offer worthwhile additional experiences.
presently awaiting sale for Little Nightmares II.
