I'll get straight to the point:

Is it scarier than Amnesia: The Dark Descent? No.
Is the game revolutionary? Also no.
Is the game solid enough for a fun horror experience? Yes, for the most part.

Amnesia: Rebirth is better AND worse than The Dark Descent and SOMA in many ways. The variety of environments, sound design, resources management and puzzle design are great and definitely hold Rebirth a strong case in those aspects, along with some pretty tense monster encounters.

However, Frictional chose very weird and perhaps half-baked design decisions which affected the pacing and the narrative of the game for the worse. The game itself feels a bit rushed and rough around the edges, especially in the narrative aspects, making it hard to care for most of the characters. The game struggles with what it wants to tell you at first.

Even so, the game gets really good in its second half, focusing on an otherworldly plot that ties in to the original game from 2010.

I'm certain that fans of the original game will find this one enjoyable, although not without disappointment.

As a non RE fan, this was a great horror game. It wasn't the scariest game I've ever played, but a solid one nonetheless. Combat was good, although it had too much emphasis during the second half in my opinion. Defenseless horror games still hold a special place in my heart, lol.

This cured my phobia from rats.

Pretty much an improvement in every aspect of the previous game. It's much longer as well. The inspiration from Hollow Knight is clearly apparent, but it has it's own twist on the gameplay - sort of a combination of a Hack and Slash game and Hollow Knight.

The art is great and enjoyable to look at.

Very detailed environments and the new gameplay mechanic spices up. Too bad the mod is too short.

Ah yeah, this is happening.

Although pretty short, this DLC is much better than the previous one, managing to maintain the original quality of the base game and provide interesting level design and fun gameplay.

The time rift addon was pretty basic, but was fun anyways.

The online party is nice but it's not really suitable for all levels in my opinion . I think it suits best levels that needs to be completed quickly as fast as possible (such as Train Rush), but nonetheless I guess it can be enjoyable for a short period of time.

I mean, at least we have Mania.
